Jeff Walz is a GENIUS!

Out of a timeout, he has his team line up at the wrong end of the floor, and the other team follows, defending the wrong basket, so his girls just inbound it and dribble down to a wide open basket!

Check it out!

I've often wondered what an NFL team would do if the other team lined up to kick an extra point from the 2.5 yd. line (either directly or shift into it from an offensive formation). It's clearly a legal offensive formation, they just can't kick it from there. I would think it would at least force a TO to be called by the other side.

Ran this play often in high school. Worked about 90% of the time.

Happened at the start of the second half.

Really?!

First time I've ever seen it.

You'd think that schools would have scouted you or at least heard about it and prepared!

Genius seems a little strong. Crafty maybe?

You have to have your inbound man whisper to the ref that you know what you're doing and you have to have all 5 guys selling it with confidence.

What could the refs do? Seems like it would be against the rules for them to correct the players or say anything.

If you don't warn them, they will almost always point out the mistake before they hand the ball to the inbounder. You just have to tell them "we know which way we're going" or something like that.

My daughter's AAU/Summer ball coach of 4 years would run this regularly coming out of the half if their team had possession arrow. It almost always worked, unless it was a team that they had played previously and had been victimized by it before. Even then, at times, it would still work. It was uncanny how successful it was. He would always communicate something to the referees just before the end of half. I never heard exactly, but from what I understand, it was as wireman said, letting them know they knew what direction they were going and that they did not need a "reminder" that would give it away. Until now, I had never seen another team run it. It was pretty cool, brought back a lot of fun memories seeing the other coaches and players faces.

Tried it before, although I'm kind of embarrassed for admitting it. Usually the referee gives it away and the other team figured it out.

Genius is a bit of a stretch. We used to run this every week in our Saturday morning youth church league. :)

For those of us that are legally brain dead, it's GENIUS!
