Targeting - I HATE the college rule

Featured Replies

This may have been discussed before on here...not sure...but I HATE the current targeting rule in college football. I understand the need to protect players. I really do. However, to throw a guy out on his first targeting offense seems very excessive to me. I think if a player gets two in one game, he should be ejected or if he gets three in a season, he should be suspended the next game...something like that. I just don't like a guy getting kicked out on his first one...JMO.

Same. I can't even begin to describe how much I hate the rule. 15 yards is fine. But to throw a dude out for a non-malicious hit, which it is 99% of the time, is ridiculous.

I hate tossing someone on first offense. But if we are talking about the one in the Rose Bowl just now that is a personal foul under the old rules.

It's all about "safety, blah blah blah" and what's worse is it's a discretion call

Horrible rule as it is right now...hopefully they'll look at it soon.

I agree it is a penalty. Just don't think the guy should get kicked out.

Other thread deleted, but 3 threads started on the same subject is your limit!

Try to control yourself :lol2:

Thanks JD...as you can tell I don't like the targeting rule!

I'm fine with the 15 yards, but absolutely no way a kid should be thrown out for one hit. None.

I hate the automatic ejection. Perhaps the dumbest thing in college football.
