BBF - I never know when it's Lumineers or Mumford and Sons when one of them comes on the radio. Not everyone's cup of tea but I like them both.

 

A lot of those bands seem to be cut out of the same mold, but considering that I dig what they're about I can overlook the similarities and not write them off as rip offs.

 

I've sorta passed the age where I'm going to join a cult over a band, but I can almost see that if I were still in my 20's or 30's this genre might be high on my list to sell my soul to.

 

A few years back I caught Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros at the Taft in Cincy when Jade was still singing with the band, and though I attended expecting a nice show, I left wanting to know where I could sign up to join the religion. It really was that moving, and after years of going to concerts I was surprised that I could ever be moved like that.

This is one of those threads that I will have to come back to time and again because right off the top of my head I can't come up with many examples, but throughout my life I have heard many examples related to what you're talking about, but the question is going to have to stew in my brain for awhile before all of those examples start to surface.

I'm pretty sure that you will understand exactly what I'm saying here, but when someone has a timeless open mind and an old soul, quite often they are actually younger in spirit than many people half their age. You might be the elder statesman here, but are far from being the oldest in attitude.

The obvious one - "He's So Fine by The Chiffons" and George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord". Seems like there was a lawsuit over that.

 

Harrison lost, and I thing the Chiffons legitimately won the suit....but Harrison's version was WAY better.

I keep waiting for a lawsuit between T. Rex and The Black Keys.
