December 22, 20169 yr Was wondering when that post was going to show up. I kept waiting and no went there.
December 22, 20169 yr I posted this in another thread (may keep posting in every thread where NKU's attendance is brought up ). NKU's attendance is pretty NORMAL for mid major D-1 basketball. I think with UK, UofL, Xavier, UC, IU, Ohio State, etc. being so close and all drawing well, that many have a distorted perception of how college basketball at the mid-major D-1 level actually draws. NKU averaged 2,296 fans last year. Here are some other teams of note: EKU - 2,034 Murray - 3,266 Morehead - 2,920 Western - 3,671 Miami - 1,426 Ball State - 2,763 Bowling Green - 2,261 Akron - 3,351 Tennessee Tech - 1,864 Tennessee State - 2,500 Belmont - 2,536 Lipscomb - 1,794 East TN State - 3,065 Detroit - 2,121 Milwaukee - 2,667 Youngstown State - 2,013 Valpo - 3,572 Cleveland State - 1,911 Oakland - 3,097 Certainly there are mid-majors in our geography that draw well Ohio U (6,010) was one I noticed and I think everyone would love to see NKU draw better; however, they are not alone or even an outlier in their struggle to attract fans. Does anyone perceive the poor coverage by the Enquirer has anything to do with the area not getting excited about NKU basketball?
December 22, 20169 yr Attendance was definitely low last night but you're absolutely insane if you think it was 400. Just comepletely crazy. Winter break UK Game Crummy opponent It happens... Hard to get energy when you're playing a D2 team and there area about 400 people in the stands.

I feel like a bad fan. I skipped the game partly because I couldn't find anyone to take my wife's ticket, but mainly because of the UK/UofL game. If they had been playing someone of substance I would've went though.

Competing with a lot.

I was there. It was probably closer to 1000 because of the parties they had going on. There were 4 people in the student section and 9 in the section behind the basket next to NKU's bench.

December 22, 20169 yr Correct, but like, I said. 400 is a ridiculous estimation. It was hyperbole my man.
December 22, 20169 yr They'll enter conference play at 9-4. A 7-11 conference record would put them over .500 for the year. I think that's absolutely obtainable based on how they've looked thus far. Definitely about a year or so ahead of schedule IMO. I love it! I said over .500 before the season, and I think they will be more than 7-11 in conference. Conference record will be over .500 I think.

Keep in mind they are not the only game in town as you mentioned. Ohio U. has NO ONE remotely close to them. I agree that I'm a little tired of people complaining about the attendance. Come out and watch.
December 22, 20169 yr Does anyone perceive the poor coverage by the Enquirer has anything to do with the area not getting excited about NKU basketball? They have picked it up a little after they started winning, as has the TV coverage, but I think you are right. Can't be that hard to have someone at least cover the home games.
