That does NOT sound like fun.

Feels like someone hit me in the elbow with a hammer. No way to move or bend it that didn't hurt.

I've taken enough steroids that last couple of days I'm starting to speak Russian!

I learned a real hard lesson about three years ago - one that my ARNP should have known.

Don't mix diabetes/high blood sugar with steroids. In my case, a near-lethal combination. 14 days at the Christ Hospital and Spa.

Wow, glad you made it through that. Sounds like it was a scary time.

Like an idiot, tried (and pretty much succeeded) to keep my failing health from the rest of the family. Probably was a day from death. Sugar over 800, lost 30 pounds in a month, tear in the esophagus and spitting up blood, diabetic ulcer on my big toe, blood clot and couldn't go number two (I'm sure there's a medical term for that - impacted?) for several days. Wound up in a state of DKA. Wife told me later that the ER doc told her not to get her hopes up.

Combination of several factors - the vast majority of them my fault. I had gone off my diabetes medications and was more concerned with crippling bouts of Meniere's Disease - for which the ARNP prescribed a rigorous regimen of steroids.

Bad idea.

I know. People had to go and get married and have babies. Selfish jokers, I tell you.

I know right? Man I used to live in the Late nighters thread. Miss the ole Birdsfan. He hung around in there too.

Jeeez papa, glad you got through it OK but sounds like you got lucky. I tend to do the same kind of thing, ALWAYS gets me in trouble and you would think I'd learn my lesson.

There were maybe 5 cars on the roads this morning on my way to work. Guess I'm the only one who doesn't have today off. :lol2:

On the back end of 14 hour poker session, I'm wore out!
