1st Region Rankings - Week 4 (POST YOUR POLLS HERE)

If early season ranking mean nothing, then why do you feel the need to defend a position on the subject?

East would struggle with Franklin's early seson schedule, but I highly doubt that Franklin would beat Somerset either.

Since we are on the subject of comparing who played who, East beat Todd 63-7, Russellville beat them 38-0. Hmm...oh and that Russellville team you beat was 3-0 against 2-9 competition.

Take your sour grapes somewhere else. You'll get your shot against the Raiders. And given recent history, you have nothing to worry about.

Sorry...no sour grapes. Just a point that rankings after Four games don't mean much. Good for discussion.

Why is it that someone who disaagrees with you is having a sour grapes attack?

Just grown tired of you continually, here and elsewhere, attempting to diminish the accomplishments of the young men at East by making light of the records of their opponents. You can defend it how you like, and you'll probably have a rational like “just stating my opinion” or “it’s just the facts”, but it has grown old.

They have done well. It's just too early to tell how good they are.

My sentiments exactly.

Small Schools

10) Glasgow

No lie, this is the worst Glasgow team in years, maybe decades. Their only near-win came against Barren County, who are usually pretty bad in their own right. I won't be surprised if they go winless.

Thought I might start posting it in this thread. Might encourage some more discussion.

Poll Week 4 - 06.gif

Notes from this week's edition:

Bowling Green was a near-unanimous #1 pick, garnering 15 of 16 first place votes. The top 5 was pretty well set in most polls. While there was some disagreement as to the order, there were no close races for positions, with 11 being the smallest margin between two teams. At #6 there was a tie this week between Graves and Warren Central, as Graves begins a slow ascent up the polls and Central continues their three week decline. No schools drop out of the top 10 this week, but one could imagine that a loss by Central, East, or Hoptown could do that next week.

The top 3 were pretty clear-cut in the Small School poll, with Trigg County taking control of the top position following their blowout victory over Reidland coupled with a Mayfield shutout loss to Graves County. Caldwell County jumped two spots by winning the only game matching two Small School top 10 teams last week. Russellville dropped a couple of spots after dropping their first game of the season to Franklin-Simpson. Edmonson County entered the poll this week after shutting out Hart County while Fulton County drops out after losing by 25 in their contest of the week.

There are only two teams I could see losing from the big schools, Henderson and Apollo. Everyone else should roll fairly easily.

I think Heath is a borderline top-10 team ... Edmonson just beat them out for my 10th-place vote. I think their game with Lone Oak could be very close.

Not knowing for sure how good Mayfield and Hoptown are is making it hard to place some of these teams. I am not real sure where to put my team Henderson either although it seems to me that they are somewhere in the 3-6 range. Owensboro is a team that plays some teams close, but defensive teams tend to do that, so I am not sure about them other than they are good. Graves only scored 14 on what I thought was a very bad PT defense, but Graves shutsout Mayfield, which speaks to maybe a defensive team. Apollo has a weak schedule, and I wonder if WC is playing poorly because of talent or something else. Warren East has been debated, and I still have no clue.

Graves actually beat Tilghman 21-14 and ran the ball effectively all night.

Warren East is actually off to the best start in team history. Hard to believe that they've been around since 1969 and they had never won their first four games until this year. My congratulations to Ben Bruni! However, the only reason why I haven't ranked them higher is because of the weak schedule. But if I know Ben, he will try to remedy that as soon as he can. He wants a winner, and a respected one at that. His team has piled up some unbelievable numbers so far this season, and that's going to continue Friday against Breckinridge Co. Then they have their open date before the BGHS game, which will certainly end the streak emphatically. After that, I don't see them losing to Logan Co, but F-S may have their ship righted by then (and, as my second favorite team, I hope that they do!). Still, East may have the best record in their history. And I'm fond of saying that the toughest opponent East has year in and year out is the Basketball Boosters...! I'm sure that Fire and macdon know exactly what I'm talking about! Ben may even be able to win them over some day!:D

Sorry about the -7, but I do not think Henderson is great on offense although I could be wrong. But running "effectively" against that defense may depend on your point of view. Henderson is every bit 40 points better than PT. PT had almost no yards when our starters came out at the end of the third, 40-7.
