Adair County over Hopkinsville? Now I've seen it all ...

At least they have a winning record...I would normally take Hopkinsville regardless of record, but, truth is, they are not a good team at all right now. Ridgeway is a mediocre Memphis team, at best, and just hammered the Tigers. It came down to Adair, Hoptown, Madisonville or Tilghman for that last spot and I gave the nod to Adair....

By the way, why is it everytime someone has a different opinion than yours, you call em out and make your oh so logical conclusion as to why..This is an opinion poll and everyone should have that right and not have to answer to you on it...By the way, how many times have you seen Adair play this year...

I just can't yet vote for Hopkinsville, or Tilghman till they get a win. I think they will both be Top 10 teams. I just want them to win some games first. As for O.Catholic they are 1-3, McLean Co. is 3-1, who should go before them?
Hopkinsville is going to play Pendleton County this week. Is that the win that's going to get them your vote?

Would McLean County be 1-3 against Owensboro Catholic's schedule? Heck, Todd Central beat McLean by three touchdowns, and no one is voting for the Rebels.

With your vote, you're penalizing teams for playing tough schedules and rewarding others for playing much less challenging schedules.

Mediocre? Ridgeway is 4-0 with two blowouts in the city and a win over perennial Mississippi power Horn Lake. CoachT.com, Kentucky's version of BGP, has Ridgeway ranked #3 in their Class 5A fan poll this week.

Has Adair played anyone remotely on that level?

If I see a ridiculous vote (or a homer vote), I'm going to question it. Is asking someone to defend their vote such a bad thing?

Ridgeway mediocre? According to their COACH & insiders this is one of their better teams but they lack good depth. Coach John Cooley compares this years team to his 2002 team except this team has a great running game and an adequate passing attack. Hopkinsville won't see a better set of DE's again this year like Ridgeway had and I know we won't see that size again. Hopkinsville held their own with them in the 1st half until the wheels came off in the 2nd.

I am not penalizing Hopkinsville or Tilghman. They are two of the eilte western kentucky programs. I don't care who they play, there is enough talent there to never start 0-4. You can only play the teams on your schedule, McLean Co., beat 3 of the 4 teams on theirs, shouldn't they be rewarded for winning? Also I have O.Catholic rated #8 and McLean at #10. My rankings do not reflect talent levels , or potential they reflect results. That is why a far inferior 2-2 Grayson Co., team gets my vote over an 0-4 Hoptown.

I have no ties with Adair Co. and I gave you my reason...You didn't answer mine...Have you seen Adair play, since you obviously know they have no merit for being there..

Let me get this straight ... you're admitting that Grayson County, which just got bombed by Apollo, is "far inferior" to Hopkinsville, yet you're voting the Cougars above them? By doing that and voting based strictly on "results," you are penalizing Hopkinsville and others for playing a much more difficult schedule.

I get tired of this "you can only play the teams on your schedule" argument. McLean County has yet to beat anyone of consequence and was drilled by a team that has since lost three games by an average of 38 points. They could schedule tougher opponents ... they chose not to. I don't see that they have to be "rewarded for winning" against bad teams.

Which of these teams have you seen play? I've seen several of them, but not Adair County ... I can only go to one game a night. Besides, who has Adair played that would make me want to see them?

Hopkinsville is much better than Mclean, Adair, etc. I don't think anyone could, with a straight face, pick Mclean or Adair to win in a head to head game against Hopkinsville.

However, in saying that, Hopkinsville is 9-7 sixteen games into the Dixie Jones era. Yes, they have played tough teams, but at what point does Hopkinsville win a game against a "tough" team? They didn't in '05...and they haven't so far in '06. I think that is the problem a lot of people are having with the Tigers. Injuries or not, getting hammered at home twice by scores of 56-7 and 41-3 to go along with losing to Mayfield, which was hammered by Graves and also lost to Marshall, has a lot of folks questioning what is going on with the Tigers.

And Warren Central? You think Madisonville or Adair County would play the likes of Bowling Green and Manual closer? I'll admit that Central is a notch or two down below where I thought they were, but I didn't think many would think they were outside the top 10 in this poll. You're the only one who doesn't have them ranked fifth or sixth.

^^actually that was a mistake, i meant to put them 6 and Warren east 7, I just got caught up in the moment, that is why I reached for Grayson Co., at 10. I assumed I had already included WC in the poll.

thanks for pointing that out.

I don't disagree with any of that, but it still baffles me as to why some people rank teams like Adair County and Grayson County above Hopkinsville.

In all honesty, I'm not sold on this Hopkinsville team. I wasn't real sold on them last year, but from what I saw, Emmanuel Taylor made a huge impact and made the Tigers better than expected. Right now, I'm waiting to see what they look like when they get all their key players healthy and in the lineup, and recognizing that they (along with Bowling Green) may have played the toughest schedule on this side of the state.
