It might be a rule but that don't mean the ref got the right call.

I expect better out of you, Yea we won, and the hardest opponent we faced were refs and weather.

Hold on one moment. I agree Mayfield was better tonight but the refs kep the game close?? Mayfields 1st TD should have never happened. Bright was clearly out of bounds on that 3rd down conversion. Incomplete pass and Mayfield is punting on 4th and long. Also the 2nd TD drive for Mayfield they get called on a holding.. #1 reacts unfavorably and gets an unsportsmanlile but somehow the player that got held from OC gets a personal foul for clapping at the call. Then 2 plays later #1 catches ball fights for extra yards and reaches for endzone gets hit and losses ball on the 1., OC player picks it up after no whistle was blown and goes about 50 yards down the field. Refs take 5 minutes to talk about and decide to say the Mayfield player was down. Mayfield scores next play. The refs were bad I agree.. They did botch spot off ball on a punt twice to OCs advantage but first 2 TDs Mayfield scored were benefitted by missed calls and bad calls. Good luck next week against CAL. Wish we could have been full strength but injuries happen and we just didnt prevail through them.

Nobody from Mayfield said this last year when a kid from OC, who was a senior, got ejected for spiking a ball before he played you guys. OC appealed and lost.

 

My question is simple. If KHSAA is going to make "targeting" a rule of emphasis. Then enforce it. If not, then quit talking about it being a rule of emphasis and play ball. That's all I'm saying. It either is a rule or not. As of now, the KHSAA says it is a rule of emphasis.

Why would we care ? If he got reinstated , fine. Hard to kick a player out without video replay, they don't do it college or pro. And most of the time they reverse the call. Sounds like OC got punched in the mouth and now is crying like a baby. Guess what? OC has now found out winning this region goes through Cardinal country. See ya next year for your yearly whippin.

Doesn't matter what you use when you hit someone in the head or neck. It's a dumb rule but it's s rule. The call was also hitting a defenseless player 15-20 yards away from the play.

 

If this gets appealed and he gets reinstated then they should do away with the rule . Catholic player spikes the ball last year and gets ejected and the hammer gets dropped on him. Catholic appealed and doesn't get reinstated before Mayfield game last year. This kid targets the head and neck area of #11. Targeting is just not leading with your head it can be done even if the shoulder, forearm, etc is used to hit the head or neck area of opponent. Now, hitting a defenseless player is when your 15-20 yards downfield away from the play.

I haven't had a chance to look at the Trajon catch, but keep in mind he only needs 1 foot in hs fb. Everything about him can be across the white, but if that right foot was in and down, it's a catch.

 

The Lumpson fighting for extra yards play looked like a TD to me. He took out the pylon as he was stretching out. I was across the field so I could be wrong on that as well.

 

Both could very well be blown calls as that crew got more wrong than they got right. Regardless, there was plenty of hometown cooking to more than make-up for those two calls. The Fox interception/interference absurdity comes to mind as one example among many.

 

The officials were terrible. Noone can dispute that, but that doesn't change the reality that MF is the better team.

I HIGHLY doubt that, according to the Paducah Sun, MHS had 388 total yards to OC's 124.

I haven't had a chance to look at the Trajon catch, but keep in mind he only needs 1 foot in hs fb. Everything about him can be across the white, but if that right foot was in and down, it's a catch.

In fact he came down with left foot first and then right foot in bounds. Great looking catch by a great player. But it was out of bounds.

Catholic had 184. I think Paducah Sun skipped a drive. Regardless. Great D by Mayfield. Bright came through in second half like he did last year vs OC.

How did you see the Trajon catch? Do you have video from Mayfield's side of the field? I sat right in front of that play and it was tough to call.

 

There is no doubt he caught it, and I saw at least one foot in bounds.
