Mayfield 28 Owensboro Catholic 6

Featured Replies

#4 for Mayfield from what I saw could of been ejected from the game anytime. Your right the white hat was horrible, but they finally made the right call on him. He better not get reinstated.

Now, if Mayfield lost #4, 22, 16, 3, during the course of the game and lost their best WR #1 a week before. They would of not won the game. Catholic hung on with them all night without their best WR Jacob, RB Williams, WR Mills, and DB Riney.

Mayfield doesn't get rolling without the catch 3 yards out of bounds. Kid had no control and was bobbling it in the white part of out of bounds.

Look Mayfield won, they get to advance, don't be surprised BGpreps peeps if they lose to CAL. They will be without their best LB.

Doesn't get rolling??? Be glad it wasn't a dry field or we would have beat you by 40+

How does an officiating crew not qualified to referee the potato sack race at the elementary field day get put in charge of a regional championship football game? That a football field has not one, but two 40 yrd lines is a concept that intellectually overwhelmed these buffoons. That's right, this band of circus stooges actually marked a penalty off from the wrong 40 yrd line. Does the KHSAA drug test officials? The most reasonable explanation for this fiasco is that someone was high or drunk or both.

Could Arnett actually miss more time because of the ejection last night? Never really see this in HS.

The film shows Arnett CLEARLY leading with his shoulder!!!!!!

Ha ha. Yea right.

Look congrats you won. Good Luck vs CAL. Your going to need it

Aces fan mad because # 4 was making tackles all over the field

Well Rambo you're not the first and you won't be the last.

Wake up ramblings from a Cards arm chair QB

Congrats to OC on putting up a the good fight against tough odds.

man oh man, tough conditions for all but the Cards were Mayfield and like always adapted and we persevered.

Trajon Bright, now the schools all time leading rusher just got stronger and the game went on. He absolutely broke the Aces backs. What a player!

I could not tell what happened on the ejection hit, it was raining hard and I couldn't see it but............there are some things to ponder here:

1. Morris stated on the coaches show this morning that the staff reviewed the film last night when they got home and video shows that he led with his shoulder

2. He said we would appeal

A kid had same thing happen for FS the previous week and it was overturned and he played.

I fully expect that we will win the appeal having video footage to back us up.

Both sides I think will agree that the zebras made some very bad calls and in this case, much like the screw up on the penalty, I suspect that the refs got confused and thought it was #4's second personal foul and it was not. I say that because that is the only reason a kid would get ejected for this in HS.

As for the refs, totally unacceptable, the Cards first score was aided by a pass we caught to keep the drive alive that was caught but should have been called incomplete. Then there was the punt fiasco, OC punts we have a block in the back call but the refs mark off the penalty from the Cards 40 rather than the OC 40. That was huge and the events eventually led to OC's lone score. Of course for the Cards, it was the misguided ejection that may carry the largest implications.

Stats wise this thing was worse than the score, the Cards dominated the stats.

We march on heading to another battle with another private on our Drive for 5

I expect better out of you, Yea we won, and the hardest opponent we faced were refs and weather.

Nothing but respect and praise for the OB Catholic team. From listening to it, sounded like the DL of OBC were very big and had great technique and for the most part, played very well. They matched up in the trenches as well as any team the Cards have played all year. Regardless how they scored, they still managed to hold the Cards to 14 1st half points which is tough in and of itself and they were still very much in the game. Seemed like Mayfield really took control in the 2nd half behind a heavy dose of Trajon Bright and the running game, which was a smart move considering the conditions these teams were playing in. It also appeared the Cardinal D played extremely well in the 2nd half. 2nd half was all Mayfield statistically. Hoping Kincer will be eligible next week. Cards need him in the middle of that D. Clearly one of the best defensive players on the team.

Doesn't matter what you use when you hit someone in the head or neck. It's a dumb rule but it's s rule. The call was also hitting a defenseless player 15-20 yards away from the play.

If this gets appealed and he gets reinstated then they should do away with the rule . Catholic player spikes the ball last year and gets ejected and the hammer gets dropped on him. Catholic appealed and doesn't get reinstated before Mayfield game last year. This kid targets the head and neck area of #11. Targeting is just not leading with your head it can be done even if the shoulder, forearm, etc is used to hit the head or neck area of opponent. Now, hitting a defenseless player is when your 15-20 yards downfield away from the play.

He better not get reinstated.

I'm going to let all your other biased, nonsensible ramblings go, but this one crosses the line. Come on bro, this is a young man who has spent ten years working tirelessly towards this moment in his life. It wasn't a dirty play and he wasn't throwing punches or anything. You only get one senior year. He deserves better than to have his end like this.

Nobody from Mayfield said this last year when a kid from OC, who was a senior, got ejected for spiking a ball before he played you guys. OC appealed and lost.

My question is simple. If KHSAA is going to make "targeting" a rule of emphasis. Then enforce it. If not, then quit talking about it being a rule of emphasis and play ball. That's all I'm saying. It either is a rule or not. As of now, the KHSAA says it is a rule of emphasis.
