Is Johnson Central the Favorite?

Featured Replies

I haven't seen FS play either but NOT gonna matter! Friday Dec 2 will be a HUGE DAY for Johnson Countians winning not 1 BUT 2 STATE TITLES!! Gonna be a big crowd in BG on the 2nd! Yes JCHS is the favorite!

I know I'm in the minority, but I think the undefeated Wildcats should be the favorites. A loss(even if it was Belfry)is a loss and we all saw what happened in last years final against South Warren. Franklin Simpson is a very good football team that is peaking at the right time.

PP92 know you were at the game Friday night with Wayne and Mercer, do you think Wayne has any shot at JC? Seems most posts don't think we need to be on same field with the mighty Eagles.

Maybe the KHSAA will move the game time again this year so JC opponent can have a chance.

Im lost. Care to elaborate?

Why would they be the favorite? Do they even have a player going on to play college

Not to call you out specifically but I have seen the Finals game used against JC a few times but people ignore the fact that the 2015 South Warren team also dominated FS in the playoffs and regular season by a combined score of 61-7.

The fact of the matter is 2016 South Warren was nowhere near the level that 2015's dominant team was. That was very clear with their regular season losses and struggles against teams they polished off with relative ease last year.

What is clear to me is FS is better than their 2015 version and JC is better than their 2015 version and they were probably pretty even teams last season.

I honestly think it will be a great game but what I can say with 100% certainty is that the biggest weaknesses JC had in 2015 have been substantially improved with the current team

FS has to beat a really tough John Hardin team Friday night.

3 for certain with another that could've gone to Wake, Duke or a few others decided to go another route and is going to Marshall to play baseball. The kids will announce soon. What does it matter if they have kids that choose to play college after high school? Over the years several have had the opportunity to play at the next level but chose not to. Circumstances and goals are different for everyone as some go to work to help out their families after graduation while others would rather focus on their college degree.

All we hope is to survive this week and earn another shot. We got beat by a much better team last year. Hats off to South Warren on their win, you will not find one person at JC that doesn't respect the crap out of them for their accomplishment. The kids refocused, got back to work in January and is just one more week away from taking that next step on their list of goals that they set.

At this point in time we are much healthier than we were last season even though we've already had 2 starters and a backup undergo season ending surgeries. We aren't looking ahead and most of the hoopla being thrown around is not by those affiliated or around the program. JC seems to be the butt of a lot of jokes and if that helps you fill out your big boy pants keep firing away. All I know about the young men and the staff is that we have a must win game this Friday before we can even think about Franklin Simpson or John Hardin. Our focus is only on Wayne County and we will leave all the hypothetical talk up to the keyboard gurus.

For those who think JC doesn't have D1 kids:

1. Geordan Blanton could have played football at Duke or Wake Forest (chose baseball)

2. Gunner Slone has offers from the likes of Indiana State

3. Noah Frisby is getting looks at TE by the likes of Purdue

4. Ethan Bingham (Junior lineman) holds interest from several D1 schools

5. Dawson Stalker will decide between schools like Ciny and Appalachian State

6. Josh Ervin DE that holds a few D1 offers and interest picking up from many others.

7. Joe Jackson (Soph.) will get offers

I could go on and on but those are just the D1 kids (and Im probably missing a few and there will probably be a few others develop)

Why would anyone think JC does not have D1 talent is beyond me. Now whether they all go on to play college football is yet to be seen. But we know they have the talent to do so if they chose.

At this point I believe it will come down to JC and Franklin Simpson. Should be a battle.
