The only plays Newton made that Jackson couldn't would be when he shook off a defender because of his size. The difference is Lamar makes those guys miss when Cam couldn't.

Newton made all the plays in pressurized situations that led his team to a national championship. I would have to see Jackson in similar situations. Pressure can have a strange effect on athletes, both good and bad. Ask me after next season, but right now it's Newton.

I think Lamar could make a special player in the NFL. Just not as a quarterback. Yeah, I said it.

 

And I love that kid. He's made CFB worth watching for me this year. He's must see TV.

I think I'd be surprised if he wasn't a first round pick as a QB. He'll get several opportunities to play QB. I don't know if he'll be any good, but with his arm strength and athleticism he is going to go in the 1st round at least.

I really dislike Cam, but this is a ridiculous question IMO. He's one of the best players in the world at the highest level.

As college QB's only, I think it's a good question. I know it's next to impossible, but if the only knowledge you have of Cam is at Auburn I think it's close. I still give the edge to Cam based on mere physical presence, but Lamar is one of the 3 best college football players I've ever seen play. Cam, Tebow, and Lamar.

I was at the UK Game the year Auburn and Cam Newton won the NC and I've never seen anyone look the way Cam looked that night. Lebron James on a football field. Lamar is more Steph Curry to me. He can do things that no one ever has been able to do, but I still take Lebron over him all day.

Also, it's easy to assume that Lamar's book is still unwritten. He wins the trophy this season (and next) and I think this argument changes dramatically.
