Very Reagan-esque

Would President Reagan be included in the politicians that contributed to creating/exacerbating the problems?

Careful now. Can't be casting shade on Saint Ronnie. Could get ugly.

If you read much from Thomas Jefferson, our founding fathers were most afraid of government and career politicians.

Absolutely. Without question.

The founders never spoke with one voice. The debate to ratify the constitution raged for a long time and they never fully admired the compromise. Plenty of the men involved -- such as Hamilton and Madison -- feared the voting public as one would an unruly mob far more than any government or politician.

So why did the government grow under Reagan?

Unfortunately in washington you have to make compromises to get anything done even if its a great idea. Why would you ask that like you don't know? I know your not trying to down Reagan.

Compromise. Something neither side is willing to do. Or even entertain the thought of doing so.

That's because there is no moderation of ideas. Too far apart and the controlling members of the parties are polar opposites on ideas. All jerks IMO.

The dems have controlled politics as of late because they have accepted compromise as long as the needle is pushed further toward a liberal America. It has worked flawlessly. Conservatives want the polar opposite and will not settle for anything less than what they want. As a result they lose. Immigration- instead of kicking everyone out, kick out all criminals. If arrested and no papers, deport them. It moves the needle toward conservative thoughts, but they will not compromise.

Why would you post a Reagan quote that didn't come true under his watch? I'm not a Reagan brasher but I'm not a worshiper either.

He told the truth. Whether he was effective or not he is the last president to tell you that government can't fix it. I believe Kennedy was the other before Reagan to say it. The rest think government is the answer. Would you rather hear quotes from presidents and people who have never been proud of their country, Who grew the debt by more than all the presidents before them combined?
