Who wins this matchup and why?

Bishop is not a team to be overlooked. Raceland has played some lackluster football the last two weeks, but they've been in position to win at the end. A running game must be established if there's any chance of making a run in the playoffs.

I'd love to see the Mustangs win, but the Rams will be too much.

2 hard hitting, athletic teams. unlike most 1st round games, this will have a true playoff feel

Not so fast my friends! I want to start by saying that BB has made great strides and is well on there way to being a team that is mentioned in the top of 1A every year. I don't take anything away from what they have done with what I'm about to say. Its not as if Raceland has gone out and laid eggs the past couple of weeks. They played Paintsville 10-0 #1 1A team in the state down to the wire. They played Russell 9-1 very good 3A team that will have a good playoff run until they hit that dead end at Belfry and played them down to the wire. I agree with Ramcat that they should have won this game. BB is a good 1A team and should definitely not be overlooked however if Raceland shows up and plays they are not the same level of teams that the Rams have seen the past two weeks.

I voted for Raceland, simply because my friend Mustang is afraid my poll vote for BB would jinx them. Picking BB's opponents, I am 0-3 and he's smiling! My head says, Mustangs are far better than given credit by the polls and they have improved leaps and bounds since their loss early season road loss to Nicholas. Kellar to Donnelly is an impressive threat that can strike from anywhere. Raceland could easily be caught overlooking this first round opponent.

Although the Mustangs have been able to put a lot of points on the board, their last two opponents have not been very good. To win, they must stop the run, especially off tackle and on the edge. Pendleton was able to move the ball here, but imploded due to penalties and execution. The Mustangs must make Raceland defend long scoring drives. Coach W has done a fantastic job of controlling tempo and the clock in this instance which has been successful. Home field advantage and the experience of playing in the playoffs is a huge advantage for Raceland, but the Mustangs are proving to be a "hard out" and want to prove they are for real. This should be one of the better first round games in my opinion. Raceland will be angry after two consecutive losses. Raceland will need to come out and try to put the game away early and not let BB stay close..I am eager to see how Raceland depends the pass..

It should be a good game but it won't be! Just like Tmh55 said, just because the Rams dropped their last 2, doesn't mean their slipping! Raceland is high level 1A team this season and my prediction is Raceland by close to 3 TD's! BB best chance is to air it out because Raceland will not allow them to Run the ball with much success! Their D line is for real!

I watched this game last year in the first round and it was pretty good. However, I think Raceland is better than last year and will likely win this time around more convincingly.

I believe that Raceland will have to stop the pass to win this one. From what I have heard, the Mustangs have a strong passing game. Offensively, I think that establishing a running game, then mixing in a balanced run / pass balanced attack like we had most of the season is crucial to win this one as well as advancing further in the post season.

BB certainly is a capable team and if Raceland comes in not ready to play then it will be a 1st round exit. BB gave us all we wanted last season. I realize this isn't last season, just shows that Raceland has to do more than show up to win.

After two of the toughest losses that a team could take, I don't think being ready to play will be a problem. Raceland could just as easy be 10-0 right now. I haven't heard an update on any injuries from last week, I know we had a couple of kids banged up a little vs. Russell, hopefully was nothing serious enough to keep them out this week. .....Calling sidelinedoc ??

 

Raceland gets this one and advances, Rams, maybe by a couple of TD's.

I like Brossart's QB. He's a good athlete and can do many things well. If Raceland's defense can play well they'll win.

I think Raceland gets back on track this week. I don't like losing but I think the past 2 weeks definitely have our focus reset and ready for a playoff run.

Rams by 20 or more

After last year's playoff game along with their last 2 games, I don't think Raceland will overlook Brossart.
