Pass interference on ineligible receiver

Featured Replies

Mayfield had a PI call for them on a receiver out of bounds that was not a legal receiver. Is this correct as the ball was over his head and uncatchable. They did interfere with the receiver but he had both feet out of bounds.

Uncatchable is not a HS rule.

(Commonly confused

Don't know what you mean by a receiver out of bounds?

How did he get there?

Was that the reason for the call ?

Player just ran out of bounds and was knocked down while ball was thrown to him.

Was he being "escorted" out of bounds? :lol2:

If the receiver was ineligible I don't believe he can be interfered with. I also don't think he can go downfield.

He was ineligible because he was out of bounds. If he had an ineligible number or been covered up then he can't go downfield

Flag for PI should have been picked up.

That's what I'm thinking too.

Maybe not a PI but possibly unnecessary roughness since they are hitting a kid out of bounds

Pass was thrown to him but he was out of bounds, strange play

Are we sure the official recognized that the player was OOB?

He should have as he was behind the official
