Paintsville 27 Raceland 21 (OT)

Featured Replies

I thought the Rams would get this one...

I did too JD.

Congrats to Paintsville.

Strong effort by the Tigers.

Wow - Football is alive and well in EKY

Still early but it appears that the Brossart Mustangs will be coming to Raceland for a re-do of last years opening round playoff game vs the Rams played in Alexandria.

should be a good game if they can stop the run and pass.

We will come to play and give it our best shot.

From the stats I heard, it sounded like the penalties were pretty much one sided. 14 on Paintsville, 4 on Raceland was the number I heard.

I think that's pretty close. I wasn't there but from a phone call I got during the game from a friend that was there ....they could have called more, that Paintsville either held, cut blocked and/or both on every practically every play they ran. Was the only way that they could block Raceland's D line. I do know how the radio guys were commenting on how the Paintsville coach and sidelines were flagged a couple of times after several warnings. Should I remember right, he (coach) was flagged for the same type actions at Paintsville when these two played last season. Don't know if its the big games / rivalry or if that is common with him or not. I do know that he's a very good coach.

Appreciate the game updates
Thank you, I also enjoyed your comment about who the Rams receiver coach may have been. :lol2:

Rams ....this one was a tough loss. This one also does not define your season so don't let it beat you more times than this week.... Another very good team comes in next Friday on your senior night. Russell is every bit as good as Paintsville, if not better. Focus ALL on Russell this week and then look to the playoffs.

RAM PRIDE !

I don't doubt you one bit. Your Mustangs gave us all we wanted last season so I expect no different.

I'm glad that I had the privilege to attend this game. It was exactly what I expected. A great game between two great teams. Good luck to both the rest of the way.

This was an odd game to me.

Great game to watch as it was entertaining as all get out but the officials seemed to zap any flow of the game in the first half.

I felt that Raceland was the overall better team. That Paintsville had better athletes with more big play ability. And most importantly that Paintsville out-coached Raceland.

Two or three decisions or lack there of usually determine a game. Raceland elected not to onside kick with the ball at the 30 after 2 15 yard penalties and up 7. Worst case scenario they recover at the 20. Best case scenario you recover at the 20. Instead you kick it out of endzone so they get it at 20?

Also the final play call? Why call a draw there? Roll out your QB (best player on your team IMO) and let him make a decision to run or throw.

I feel like Raceland let one get away as I don't think Paintsville will have 98 yards of penalties in a half if these two play again.

I was pulling for Raceland in this one and the game lived up to the hype but the Rams took a loss that could have been avoided to IMO.

Paintsville deserves a lot of credit for the way their kids handled adversity tonight. A couple of times they could have sulked but they rallied and made big play after big play. The FB for Paintsville was a load in the 2nd half.

Great game and atmosphere.

Good post. I wasn't there so I can't comment on all but as for the bolded I agree. Raceland is a great atmosphere for h,s. football any game and when you get a matchup like these two teams and their great fan bases ....it's special.

Next week, when 3A Russell / a big rivalry comes in for the "Rail Cities Bowl" and the Rams Senior night for 18 Ram players plus the senior band members, cheerleaders along with all the parents then it's emotional plus the game between two good teams, rivals

Great game to be a part of. Emotions were high and the majority of the penalties were unsportsmanlike penalties. Paintsville defensive backs held several times, so I'm not sure that they were "homered" by the officials. I believe this was the first game we didn't lead in penalty and penalty yards.

I sure hope that 27 days from now, there is a rematch in Paintsville.

should be a good game if they can stop the run and pass.

Generally, isn't that the goal in a football game?? :lol2:

BTW, just messing with you. This is gonna get me through till I get off work at 7 am. Love the midnight shift....
