Storm basically ran west to east about 10-20 miles south of the Ohio river. The strongest storm I remember seeing in this area.

 

I've been out and walked around looking at some of the damage. Power crews have been on Walton Nicholson just south of Independence for about 7 hours now.

 

Power lines down, trees down, grass matted down from wind. I'm only a couple miles away from where tornadoes past through NKY a few few years ago. This is the strongest storm I remember seeing in this area. I'm sure there will be plenty of photos online once the sun comes up.

 

 

Hoping @nWo can give us some details. Local news meteorologists seemed concerned and caught off guard with how this thing developed but they followed it vigorously.

It was the worst I ever seen it hail. I am sitting at work right now with no electricity.

If I get any info on the storm I will gladly post it. I'm sorry I wasn't on line during the storm but I worked late then was at a church revival I was invited to. I knew something was up because my phone was going crazy but I didn't look at it.

Some roads closed in Kenton County.

We had to go into full emergency mode during wrestling practice last night due to the tornado warning. Crazy lightning, high winds, and very heavy rain for over an hour. I didn't see any hail or major damage around my area, but heard reports of some hail and wind damage in Boone County around Burlington.

I think this one caught everyone off guard. Spoke to a guy last night who was smoking a pig. Was less than thrilled to be putting wood on the smoker all night in the heavy rain.

The storm was very similar to the tornado that hit a few years back. It was traveling northeast along the river and then made a hard right turn to the east. A friend's big wooden swingset ended up in his neighbors yard over in Union. It went over their fence.

 

The weird thing about the storm is that it was moving over my house from front to back, but the rain and hail was pounding the back side of the house.

I could see the lightening from this storm from my house in Anderson County, and that's a long way...looked like bombs going off in the distance. Didn't even have to look north to see it, the flashing caught my attention when I was outside looking southeast, I kept seeing something brightly flashing out of the corner of my eye, just lighting up the sky. Was weird, not a cloud in the sky where I was. I didn't know what was happening, but my first thought was there must be a really bad storm north of us. I turned on the 11:00 news and was right.
