Hearsay Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Are toothpick, westsider, and cardsvoice all still alive, or have they had heart attacks?

Hearsay Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 You a lawyer Hearsay? I take it that pic is of a Supreme Ct Justice? Yes and no. Pic is Nero Wolfe, my favorite literary character.
Brewsky Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 I knew it wasn't Chase or Brandeis. Hope to join the club in a little over a year!
Toothpick Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Just in from game but had to stop by hospital for a defib shock What a game! Several times the last several years Mayfield has been snake bit in the last few minutes or seconds by Hoptown but tonight it was just the opposite One quick note, both teams defenses were Terrible, both offenses look to be NFL calibre, Mayfield, could not stop the big play at all until late when they seemed to find mojo favoring them and they built on it. Hopkinsville's defense, well they couldnt stop anything except the long play allowing Mayfield to play Mayfield Football (ball control). Mayfield's offense conducted a clinic on ball control all night racking up 25 first downs to 10 for Hoptown but Hoptown didnt need many they scored on long plays all night until late. Mayfield ran 84 plays racking up 446 yards of offense while Hoptown had the ball 11 minutes and change and racked up 466 yards of offense (Taylor rushed for a whopping 240 yards on just 10 carries).
ADopted ADmiral Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Great win cards! Sounds like you guys had a game like the Ads did. How about the 1A schools taking care of the 3A schools! I love it!
snakesnot_2000 Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Mayfield finally paid Hoptown back for all those games they have won in the last seconds. Hoptown played great on offense, they have 2 top players in #7 and # 5. They moved the ball on big plays all night on the Cards. Mayfield played with much heart and could have given up but Adam Shelton made some big plays at the end, along with many other Cardinal players. This win might be what sends this team on too some bigger things later on in the season.
Toothpick Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Okay here is a quick summary Hoptown takes opening drive and scores but get extra point blocked (1 of 3 extra points blocked by Mayfield on the night. Mayfield takes opening drive and scores and gets extra point blocked. Eventually Hoptown gets out to a 2 score advantage going into the half. Mayfield in the second half slowly fought back and late in the 4th the Cards score with a minute and change or so to go to make score 34-32 Hoptown, the Cards go for 2 and dont make it. They kick an onside kick that bounces off a Hoptown player and the Cards recover on their side of the field 47 yard line I think. With no timeouts the Cards work the sidelines and eventually get to the Hoptwon 27 (with about 20 seconds to go) where they bring in kicker Tommy McNutt who boots a 44 yard field goal to take the lead for the first time all night and the eventual win

Way to fight back cards! And a 44 yard field goal to seal the deal! Thats awesome!!!
Hearsay Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 'Pick, you said all week that your kicker would be the difference and you were right. What a great way to end it by McNutt!!!
titletownclown Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Sounds like another very exciting game tonight. Congrats on the win.
Toothpick Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 'Pick, you said all week that your kicker would be the difference and you were right. What a great way to end it by McNutt!!! If I am not mistaken he has had all touchbackes but 2 on his kickoffs this season and 44 yards is not anywhere close to his potential, he is a weapon.
Toothpick Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 On a side note, our top offensive and defensive lineman, Heath (only returning starter from a year ago) went down with what appears to be a severe knee injury in the first half and never returned.
