October 10, 201610 yr I'm not the normal Big 10 Fan, I actually enjoy SEC football by and large much more, but I am a big fan of a team in the Big 10. Noteworthy today that for the first time since 1960 (), the Big 10 has 4 teams in the Top 10 of the AP Poll. Obviously, Wisconsin can / will fall out of that with a loss to the Buckeyes this weekend, but nonetheless, a fairly impressive feat on October 10.
October 10, 201610 yr I saw that. Also saw a pretty solid argument asking if they're really all that good.... Michigan - best win is Wisconsin (see below). Wisconsin - barely beat a bad LSU team (in Wisconsin), and have a signature win over a 2-3 Michigan State who has lost to BYU and Indiana Nebraska - Hanging their hats on a 3 point home win over an Oregon team that has lost 4 straight and been humiliated by both Washington State and Washington in consecutive weeks. Ohio State - big win over Oklahoma. An Oklahoma team that has been beaten soundly by both OSU and Houston, the same Houston team that lost to Navy. Oklahoma's 3-2 with their best win being a barn burner over a Texas team that is about to fire their HC because of how poorly they're performing. Now, I don't really agree, and I'm sure you could make similar arguments against a lot of the top teams. Just thought it was an interesting argument. I will say that there is no way, IMO, Wisconsin or Nebraska are top 10 teams. JMO.

Wisconsin has a chance to prove themselves this coming weekend and Ohio State better be ready to play. Michigan and Ohio State are legitimately good. I don't know anything about Nebraska other than their record.
October 10, 201610 yr Only took two post to dismiss the B10 lol. Funny things happen when the playing field is leveled in college football.

October 10, 201610 yr How am I dismissing the Big 10? I have two of them in my current top 4. :lol2: Guess we gotta settle for 2 of the teams getting credit. It's about the same in the SEC also. Level playing fields creates diversity.

I don't think there's anything wrong with questioning teams. I question Baylor too. I question Clemson. I question pretty much every team in the country not named Alabama. It ain't limited to the Big 10.

It ain't limited to the Big 10. Honestly I question Alabama as much as anyone else in the top 8 or 9 teams. I think Ohio State, Michigan, Louisville, and Clemson would beat Bama on a neutral field right now. Just my opinion though.

October 10, 201610 yr Who has an impressive win so far anywhere in college football? We thought Wisconsins win over LSU and MSU were impressive but those programs are a mess, Wiscy barely loss to Michigan and neither team looked all that dynamic in that game. Alabama's win this week against an Arkansas team might be impressive, but who knows with Arkansas, Ohio States win against Oklahoma is up in the air depending on how they finish, Washington's win against Stanford was in impressive fashion, but Stanford lost again. Clemson has the only impressive win and it was basically a push. We can play this game with every team.
October 10, 201610 yr Can you make a better case for Nebraska and Wisconsin being Top 10? Who would be in front of them? The bottom 15 of the top 25 aren't exactly world burners.
October 10, 201610 yr Who would be in front of them? The bottom 15 of the top 25 aren't exactly world burners. Agreed. To my mind, everyone outside the top four has points you can attack to justify making them lower. It's tough putting together a top ten that's super strong. The field just isn't that way this season.
October 10, 201610 yr Only team in the country that I'm completely convinced is a top 4 team is................Louisville Alabama could have lost for the 3rd straight year to Ole Miss...but pulled away...Def let's up too often and O hasn't sold me on being consistant against good teams...nest 2 games will either vault them clearly to the top or drop them out of contention. Ohio St has killed a bunch of crappy schools and beat the better ones convincingly...winner of Ohio St/Mich will by default make playoffs. Michigan (see Ohio St) Clemson, Louisville out played them...they were not the best team on the field that night, regardless what the score showed. Washington...well they COULD be the real deal, but need some work to prove it. Good thing is that this will play itself out over the next few weeks.

Basically with UofL you are debating how good Florida state. Just like with Bama you debate how good Arkansas is, with Ohio State you debate how good Oklahoma is, with Michigan you debate how good Wisconsin is, it goes on and on with every team. We can be analytical with every team right now. We can all play devils advocate here, but the fact of the matter is at this point the top 7 or 8 teams are based on everyone's biased opinions. Like you said the top teams are being judged on their wins against severely inferior opponents except (Clemson which looked good against UofL but pretty average against their inferior opponents) That's basically all we have to go on.
