Russell 30 Fleming County 7

Fleming scored its lone td by running in a fumble by the 2nd unit of Russell for 52 yards late in the 4th.

Hats off to Russell. They physically whipped and dominated Fleming County tonight. Fleming County got nothing going offensively and gave Russell too many opportunities on a short field.

Good luck to Russell the rest of the season.

Easily Russell's most complete game of the season to date.

Really, only two things to nitpick...

1. Still not finishing enough drives with authority. The score could have been much worse if the execution was better in the red zone.

2. We were a little sloppy with the penalties tonight.

The opening drive of the 2nd half was very important for the Devils. Taking the ball down the field and punching it in the end zone while eating up 6 minutes off the clock was huge.

Conley ran hard, Smith made some excellent throws and the WRs made some great catches, especially Boehm. The OL played, IMO, their best game of the season.

Crump did a lot more running tonight than he probably would have liked. Not letting him get comfortable in the pocket was a big key tonight. Stump, DeBoard, Pierce, and Brayden have been doing work all season on the DL. Boehm's streak of five consecutive games with an INT came to an end, but Nathan Brinkman picked up the slack, picking off Crump twice. Overall, just an outstanding performance from the defense.

Your receivers made great catches tonight. The TD catch by 10 where he went over 15 from Fleming and then tipped ball that was caught on your sideline were huge catches.

I said in the prediction thread that this was the most anticipated game between these two since 2004. They played twice that year and tonight's game played out in a similar fashion as the '04 games. That year, Fleming and Russell both entered the regular season game with matching 9-0 records. Fleming was averaging over 50 ppg and had me a little worried coming in. Russell proceeded to out physical Fleming and muscle them around all night, winning in a blowout. They duplicated that feat in a playoff rematch a few weeks later.

Tonight was not a match-up of 9-0 teams, but the stakes were just as high. The winner would have to like their chances of winning the district. Both teams surely had this one circled on the schedule before the season began. I'm not saying that the district title is Russell's, but they're certainly in the driver's seat now. This was a huge win.

#10 is Drey Boehm. He's talented young man. Very good receiver and a shut down corner.

Dummy me :lol2:. I took a shot and picked Fleming to win. Russell looks to have elevated to the top of NEKY teams. Congrats to Russell on the W.

Obviously Johnson Central is #1 in neky. I look for the Russell/Raceland game in a few weeks to be a dandy. Russell has some work to do though before then.Like DMC said Russell needs to work on finishing drives especially in the redzone.

Fleming losing 14 Waller early in the game and 26 Clark late in the game are huge for this team. I hope they are not seriously hurt and will return soon.

Congrats to Russell on the win. Their next 3 games will be nothing but fine tuning for the only real game they have left, Raceland.

:thumb: I consider JC to be EKY, not NEKY but yes, they are the best.
