Points are only part of the bracketing process. In many cases there are outside issues that also determine the seeds in the brackets. For example, teams are required to let KYMSFA if they have field conflict dates during the playoffs. This year 7 teams told the KYMSFA that they could not host at any point in the playoffs. That can make a difference in where they are seeded, considering host sites are determined by seed. There are also penalties and sanctions that are handed out, one of the primary ones for violations of KYMSFA Rules is the loss of home playoff games for a season, which would modify the seeds a bit.

 

Also the primary rule that 7th grade teams tag along with 8th grade teams, means the 7th grade bracket normally mirrors the 8th grade brackets so that those teams stay together with travel. In some cases they do not due to the teams having separate coaching staffs or "What If" logistics worked out with those travel teams during the bracketing process.

 

Main goal is to keep the top 4 seeds as true as possible, and adjust for logistics as needed.

A JCPS team broke a JCPS rule and has been removed from the playoffs at JCPS request.
