Larry Fitzgerald - Is he a HOF'er?

Featured Replies

Eventually. I don't think he'll be a first ballot HOFer. If guys like Terrell Owens, Chris Carter and Michael Irvin aren't first ballot HOFers then Firzgerald won't be either.

This. It will be in his second or third year of eligibility.

I can't figure out why they hate WRs so much.

TO should've been in 1st chance as well. Fitz is considered a great guy, TO is universally hated. Does that play a factor? Shouldn't, but I bet it does.

Tim Brown was loved by everyone and considered a great guy and it took him 3-4 years before he was elected to the HOF.

"In 2005, Brown signed a one-day contract with the Raiders to retire with the team. The July 18 news conference was attended by two Raiders officials and only one active Raider, wide receiver Jerry Porter. Brown retired with 14,934 receiving yards, the second-highest total in NFL history, 1,094 receptions (3rd), and 100 touchdown catches (3rd-Tied). Brown also gained 190 rushing yards, 3,320 punt-return yards (5th in NFL history), 3 fumble-return yards, and 1,235 yards returning kickoffs. This gave him a total of 19,682 combined net yards, ranking him #5 among the NFL's all-time leaders at the time of his retirement. He also scored 105 total touchdowns (100 receiving, 1 rushing, 3 punt returns, 1 kickoff return). Brown is the only player ever to retire in the NFL's top five leaders for both receiving and return yards.

Brown became eligible for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010, but was not selected that year.[5] He was considered a long shot to get in on his first try, as there was a logjam of accomplished receiver candidates, including Jerry Rice (Brown's former teammate), Cris Carterand Andre Reed.

On January 7, 2012 and again on January 11, 2013, Brown was selected as a finalist for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but was not chosen.

On January 31, 2015, Brown was selected for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.[6] He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 8, 2015.[7]"

Yes, but it will take time.

He should be in, and TO should as well. Hope they don't make Randy Moss wait too long either.

If Randy isn't a first ballot HOFer I will be heated. I'm not even a big fan of TO or Cris Carter, Irvin or the others who should have been first balloters but Randy not being a first ballot HOFer may cause me to get reckless on Twitter.

Fitz is the polar opposite of all three of those guys in the eyes of the media. That goes a long way in the selection process.
