Western Kentucky 46 Rice 14

I wonder if he and Vandy would consider each other. I think the Commodores will be looking for a coach after this year as Mason just seems in over his head. Vandy's a tough place to build a program up, but it might be interesting to see if he can try to do what Kentucky did in the 90s and build a big offensive power in the SEC East that can steal some games every once in a while.

Knowing "this" much about Vandy's athletic department and how it is run, I'd be less surprised if Cincinnati became the country music capitol of the world than I would be if they considered Petrino.

I believe he he was talking about Brohm and Vandy.

Yeah, Brohm, not Petrino.

Enjoyed the atmosphere at Feix Field. Wonderful night, great crowd, awesome band and high octane offense. Couple of impressions to share:

1). TV timeouts drug this game to 3 hours, 40 minutes. It was brutal, brutal, brutal watching teams stand for 3 minutes after every change of possession, score, extra point, kickoff, injury, etc. TV money is changing the games in many ways....most recognizable in neutralizing momentum.

2). Very impressed with QB White that shook off early game misfires to throw for 517 yards. Throws a strong and accurate longball. The skill players destroy the myth that D1 requires both size and speed...Norris 5'9", 175 (7 catches for 175); Fant 5'9", 185 (5 catches for 44); Wales 5'10", 195 (4 catches for 44); Bush 5'11", 195 (1 catch for 35). Taylor and Jackson are both 6'1", 185 and combined for 6 catches totalling 219. All showed speed and hands.

3). That impressive outing was granted against Rice. Going to be surprised if they can generate daylight against Bama. In fact I will be excitedly astonished! Go Toppers.

Your first point is the main reason I rarely go to college gmes any more. That, and the unbearable noise from the PA system that fills the void. If you want to enjoy FB as it used to be, go to a D3 game, like Centre's.

I feel your pain. More enjoyable channel surfing between games. College administrators are being challenged with money. Soon might have to paint stands like NASCAR to hide the empty seats.
