Dixie Heights 34 Scott 7

Featured Replies

Play resumed this morning at 9a after last nights lightning delay. Jose "The Bull" Torres and the rest of the Colonel rushing stable picked up where they left off and continued to ground and pound.

The Eagles are a solid football team. We all have some fine tuning to do before district games begin. Thank you to the Scott Football Family for honoring Dixie Heights 2015 grad Colson Machlitt pre-game last night. :thumb:

Stay cool and have a good rest of the weekend folks!

About what I expected. It is back to the future for Dixie. They are going to run it till you make them pass.

Scott ... it is hard to believe they can drop this far with the good players they returned. Who are the key players that graduated that made that big a difference? What is the difference between this year and last?

Shouldn't be hard to believe. Scott lost a ton. Nearly every starter on Defense. Two game breaking rb's that are playing in college and a tough, hard nosed two year starter at QB. Lost an all NKY offensive lineman, and just last week lost a two way, 3 year starter on the o and d line for the season. Their top receiver from last year is now playing QB. They've only got a handful of senior starters, and less than a dozen overall. Against Dixie, they started 3 freshman and a few more sophomores. To say they didn't lose much is just flat out not true.

They will be OK. They played much better against Dixie today. Their district is down this year, and only Johnson Central stands out in the whole region.

Yep still not a top 10 team in NKY.

It's really disappointing as I would like to see them sustain last year's success. I enjoy when NKY has top teams in various classes.

Very surprised at this. I thought Scott's program would be in better shape after the last couple years. Who do you think they will beat?

What has to be so frustrating for Scott fans is the lack of players coming out to play year in and year out. If it's true they had to start some freshman this weekend then that is a problem.

Open enrollment hurting Scott this year?

Scott is not a big school. And the football team shares athletes with other sports. Unfortunately, some of the better athletes in the building who were good football players, are better and have college aspirations in other sports. There are a handful of kids who could be difference makers, that have just chosen to focus on other sports. It's a common theme that many smaller schools experience.

This year is going to be a lot like 2014 (That team finished 7-3). They lost a lot from the previous year, but have a good stable of younger kids that are just learning to play at the varsity level. The record however might not be as good, since the schedule is tougher. They have less than 10 seniors on the team, and the freshman that are getting time are very good, and would likely be getting time at just about any of the non 6A/Cov Cath/Highlands schools in the area. All other classes have decent numbers. It's not a year in year out issue of kids not coming out. It's a cyclical issue that many schools experience. There is talent on the team. And the good news is the district and region they are playing in seems to be down (outside of Johnson Central). It's not out of the question that this team could win the district, host a playoff game or two and get a win or two in the post season.

Scott's district may be one of the weakest in the entire state. Not sure there's a quality team in it. Haven't seen Holmes yet...so I guess there's still hope
