August 26, 201610 yr I am not a Hope Solo fan at all but it seems harsh to me to suspend someone for saying what she said. She called the other team cowards for the way they played. I don't blame Sweden for playing the defensive style they played since it was the only way they had any chance to win...and it worked. However, it WAS sort of cowardly...like a basketball team stalling all game (before the shot clock was put in). So in a way, you could say she was accurate in her comments even though I do not agree she should have said it. It sounds childish. I think the suspension was for a culmination of the headaches she has caused US soccer, not just for the remarks after the Sweden match. Also, NO WAY a man gets suspended for saying something similar IMO.

September 7, 201610 yr IDK....I see how she could be a distraction, but it seems like a double standard to me. (see Demarcus Cousins for example). However, I think she should have kept her mouth shut after the loss.....but then of course that would have been a distraction because she would have been uncooperative for the obligatory press conferences. IMO, the coach is weak, and maybe this gives some indication as to why the WNT performed below expectations. The hacked nude pictures should be a non-issue.

Domestic dispute - wasn't that discharged? Public disparage - that's unacceptable exercise of freedom of speech, but disparaging our country is OK, although it is something many of us find offensive... isn't that what PC is about? The "other nonsense" ...is that the nude pictures that were hacked...should she be forever crucified for that? Frankly, it is funny how we have become so selectively tolerant.
