Syville Smith's sister urges rioters to burn down the suburbs - YouTube Yeah I don't think the protestors would like the outcome of going into the suburbs.
August 18, 201610 yr Author Most importantly, stupid comment from a distraught sister. I'd like to see the full clip where she makes the statement (which West omits). From the transcript, it is very possible that the focus of her remarks was A - we don't need destruction of property & violence won't help; and B - it certainly doesn't do any good to destroy the property in this neighborhood. Going the next step to suggest it be taken to others was a mistake. CNN's Edited Footage from Milwaukee Family. Watch the Unedited Version Here - YouTube
August 18, 201610 yr This is very disturbing, I had not seen the uncut video. Wouldn't you want the local suburbs to know that threats were being made against them? I know I would. When threats against specific areas of America are being made, you would think journalists would feel obligated to report this to make citizens aware of possible danger.

Nothing outweighs them getting their agenda across. It's sad really.

People will leverage it for their own purposes, but to me this is not a call to arms to grab torches and pitchforks and march to the suburbs to take action. As stated above, her point was destruction is stupid and won't bring her brother back and that destruction of your own neighborhood is even stupider.

Burn that *stuff* down". "Y'all wanna hurt someone, take that *stuff* further out" No rose colored glasses. Looks like she is calling for arson and assault in the suburbs to me.

The narrative is we do respect property, the non narrative is don't do it here go to the white suburbs and businesses and burn them out. During the 60's they tried this in Cynthiana, but I know one professional who literally sat in his business and waited for them. It would not have turned out well. But you can't destroy property. This young woman's hate and grief came across, free and clear, and I am at a loss for how to pull these communities of poverty out of it. CNN knew exactly what she was saying and broadcasted their version to the country and world and now we all know CNN lied and sugarcoated the piece. Edited August 19, 201610 yr by Sportsaholic Mamaw

No, it meant go to the white neighborhoods and burn their stuff down. There is no spin for that, less common sense.
August 19, 201610 yr Shouldn't she be arrested for inciting a riot in the suburbs? Doesn't there have to be a riot for somebody to be deemed responsible for inciting it?
August 19, 201610 yr Doesn't there have to be a riot for somebody to be deemed responsible for inciting it? Surprisingly enough, no. At least in some jurisdictions.
August 19, 201610 yr Surprisingly enough, no. At least in some jurisdictions. I did not know that. Where does Wisconsin and/or Milwaukee stand on that issue? Would be interesting to see something like that tried in court as it seems it would almost certainly make its way up the SCOTUS ladder.
