3A AP Poll out!

For the record I think you can almost take the top 5 and juggle them around any way you want. Those teams all have a shot with Highlands probably being the favorite right now. I think you can then take the next 6 teams with JC + Franklin Co in those rankings knocking BE back a couple of spots then juggle them any way you want. I think JC could be anywhere between #6-#11 right now.

I'd like to hear a little about Bell because I felt like that Region comes down to Rockcastle and JC. PSW will give Boyle a run for their money this year too I think. I wouldn't be the least bit suprised to see them and Central as the top 2 teams in that Region.

Good observations. Of course, things will play out as the season progresses, but I am a little leary of the lack of playoff experience on the part of Johnson Central. The Golden Eagles have only one playoff game under their belt since 2000. The bright spot is that it was last season and these players were a part of it. Still, the other teams you mentioned are used to big playoff games which is a huge advantage. However, I believe that if there is any coach that can get an inexperienced playoff team ready it is Jim Matney.

Not trying to be a downer here...just trying to be realistic. But, a Regional final appearance would suite me just fine.

According to the link provided for the Ashland Daily Independent, the Louisville Courier-Journal was not one of the 13 vote in this week's AP poll.

Shame!

Since you know so much about that program why don't you tell us exactly what happened and what you would do to them or do you just go on hearsay?

IMO Johnson Central is better than Rockcastle at this point in the season.

I think JC is excactly where suppose to be right now this early in the season. You have to understand until them boys earn it, which i think they will, they shouldn't be voted any higher just yet.

I did'nt want to say that because then I'm a braggn' JC'er who's blinded by our little bit of success. I think most people who know me think I error to the cautious side. But, I did see N.L. and Rock scrimmage and I would tend to agree with you, but the season's young and anything can happen.

Thanks for the props!

I think the JC fans should be proud. When I first joined in '03, JC went 1-9 and the argument was about whether they would ever have a winning season again. Now it's whether they deserve to be top ten. I think that speaks very well for how that program has progressed. Congratulations.

You can't compare a scrimmage game to a real game. Remember, 10 min quarters were played in the scrimmage and JV played the 4th quarter. Plus the clock ran the entire 3rd Quarter except for last 2 minutes. No kicking game also can make a difference. Seems to me that Rock scored about 30 points in that scrimmage with NL.

I've said it before, and will again. You can generally tell who the better team is during a scrimmage. If Rock, no matter what the format, scored 30 and NL scored 6 (or whatever), I'd assume that would have approximated a real game, where both teams played conservative. I'd further assume that a real game the following week would not be that different.

I agree they should be proud of what is going on there right now!:thumb:

And trust me, no county in this state is happier with their football team. Tonight is a big night for JC fans. Home opener, highly ranked national quarterback, college scouts on hand... should be a fun place to be around 7:30 at "the nest".

cov cath is going to be number 1 after this weekin
