No, I won't let my kids watch other kids play football. I will let them watch it on TV though. It's mind-numbingly boring at all levels outside of NFL and a handful of college games.

The "mind-numbingly boring" statement is much more opinion than fact. And I'm not sure what harm letting your kid watch a high school football game (especially when they are in high school) would cause. Unless you're concerned they might get an inkling to play;). Are you really going to say no to little UKMustang going to the homecoming game??

My wife was a big time soccer player, and really wasn't a football fan, and did everything she could to keep our sons from playing football...I spent many Sunday's watching football alone. She even tried pushing them all toward soccer. In the end, both boys played football (although one did end up quitting, and both along with my daughter, hate soccer. My point is you can't always pick and choose what your kids like to do. And I can't think of a reason why I would say no to my kids wanting to play almost any sport. I've got a baseball/football player, volleyball player, and a wrestler/tennis player.

Different strokes for different folks...

So if your kid ask to go to a game with friends what do you say?

If your kid ask you to take them to a game what do you say?

Not pro games but HS games.

Absolutely. And I've found that my kids are just as likely to have different interests than me. That's why I don't buy into trying to control which activities/sports (as long as they are legal:up:) my kids do. And I've learned to enjoy things I had no use for (like tennis, wrestling, and volleyball) simply because my kids decided they wanted to participate in those sports. If my kids want to try a new sport, I'm going to let them do it (as long as I can afford it). I've moved beyond labeling any sport as boring or dumb. People like what people like.

I already did. It's not worth the risk.

Risk of injury? Risk of concussions? Little more specific if you can, thanks.

I've been hurt more times in car wrecks than football and I played football for 11 years in full pads.

Given that you've been in cars for more than 11 years and probably year 'round, wouldn't that make statistical sense?

Oh...and maybe you should drive better? :D Glad that none of them have been serious enough to keep you from doing what you do.

Yeah, I'm good with the amount of time I've already wasted on this subject. My thoughts on kids playing football are easy enough to find in the numerous other threads on here.

Side note: I'm a bit surprised at how few pitchers wear protective head gear on the mound. Rare. To be fair, I've never seen a pitcher get hit in the head area.

Saw a guy get hit right between the eyes in an intramural softball game back in the day. He was wearing glasses. Lots of hemoglobin spilled.

I was hoping you would say what you would tell your kids if they wanted to go to a football game or ask you to go take them to one.

He is. In Foxboro.
