As much as I wish for Somerset to be in the Mountain Top Ten, after the performance against Franklin Co I don't think that we are anywhere close!!! Much has to happen for Somerset to even see the bottom of the top ten again.

I think breathitt should be in there.

I would agree with this top picks. It's hard to figure teams out without a couple under their belt. I'll go with this line up.

Reason, Top seven win and bottom three lose in very close games to good teams. Next week, if someone in the top seven lose they drop and everyone moves up.

The three best teams are Rock, JC, and Belfry. JC could be the true #1.

A team that could be in this poll in the next few weeks is Letcher County Central. If sheldon clark beats ashland this week, and they have a very good shot at doing it, then they could be in the top 3.

I know they Belfry treats scrimmages as practices, but I heard from fathers that JC was a better team than Belfry. Rock was not everly impressive against Corbin. Why not?

JC was better than I have seen them ever look. No argument there. But i didn't think they looked like world beaters, especially not in the 3A region they compete in.

 

They were a decent team but in all honesty I don't see any hopes in there of them being better than Bell or Rock in November.

Sheldon Clark is not playing Ashland....they are playing Boyd County this week....and it will be a tough test for the Cards.

I will have to "respectfully dissent" Watusi. Look for Bell to have a down year by their standards. Rockcastle may very well be the class of the mountains, but I would put JC ahead at this early stage.

Wow, thanks man. I've loved and envied the passion of Belfry football since I was walkin' the sidelines at the old mosquito bed back in the late 70s. Just doin' my job, gnawin' down on some of that good pre-game grub, and dreadin' the hr.-long drive back to Pikeville. The jawin' aside, and truth be told, we all pull for Belfry or any strong program from these hills in the playoffs. But right now, why won't you ladies play Johnson Central in the regular season?! (Lord I apologize, and be with the sub-par pigmies over on Pond Creek).

Madison Southern taught us a good lesson last year, so you have a valid point. I hate when that happens. Our coach and players believe we're going all the way, so who am I to disagree. If we don't, we'll do it next year, but we're gettin' there!
