polarbear87 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Coach Deron Ray has accepted the head coachin job.
All In Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 He's wanted this for a long time. He'll live and breath it 24/7
Randy Parker Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 He's wanted this for a long time. He'll live and breath it 24/7 Yep
All In Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Yep I've honestly thought Coach Ray should have gotten this job at least 2 Coaches ago
se7ens Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I know some of his background, but will a Bracken faithful member give us a full bio on Coach Ray please?
Woodstock Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Has coached middle school for 14 years. Coached at Scott County and somewhere else. Coached boys and girls basketball at Bracken County Middle School for 10 years. Graduated from Pendleton County and also served in the Air Force.
maysvilleky Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Good for continuity of the program. Shouldn't have much of an adjustment period.
OpieTaylor Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 Good for continuity of the program. Shouldn't have much of an adjustment period. Agree. Most of the girls have played for him in the past. Coach Ray will wear the title of head coach with a lot of pride and dedication.
THEBUZZERBEATER Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 The best man for this job should have never been let go and he is in Robertson County now. I believe Bracken got what was coming to them, as the old saying goes, what goes around, comes around. Time will definitely tell as to what happens with this program moving ahead.

So, you know the details of why "the best man for the job" was "let go?" And what did they get that was coming to them? Appears they had by all accounts a successful season without the "best man for the job."

Longevity my friend these days to young athletes is essential and that is what the guy at Robertson County provided for the program along with success, hence record and accomplishments speak for the program itself. Yes you had success last season with a All A title, but my comments are what they said, stay tuned to what you might get moving forward. Yes I do know what happened and its sad to say in todays athletics, its more about the parents and less about the kids as admins cave to mommies and daddies by allowing them to complain because Susie Q and Janie don't play enough! Facto Opie and Andy would tell you the same thing going back in time!

What is the statute of limitations on a coach being removed and complaints still being lodged ? Give it a rest. He's not coming back and he's gone for a reason. On a secondary note: it's good to see that you somehow support BC sports yet in the same sentence believe they "got was coming to them".....ironic I believe is what you were going for.
Woodstock Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Can we just have one Bracken County girls basketball thread without Patrick Kelsch being brought up? Bracken went 18-10 without Kelsch Kelsch went 6-19 without Bracken Deron Ray has wanted this job for a long time, and he will keep the program successful and should stay for a while.
