July 1, 201610 yr Ridiculous Cinderella story. From another post I made earlier looking at it from the NC State side of things, but here is what they had to do just to get out of the Regionals and advance to play AT LSU! Yesterday, NC State survived their HC Elliott Avent's explosion and subsequent 2 game suspension for arguing with the umpires to win 8-1 and force another game with Coastal Carolina. The game was delayed by rain prior to starting and then an in-game rain delay happened. At 12:05 AM this morning, with the bases loaded and 1 out with NC State leading 5-3 and Coastal Carolina batting in the top of the 9th, the rains came. Game was delayed to 2:00 PM today. Here's how it went: Groundout to score a run, 5-4 NC State w/ 2 outs & runners on 1B & 2B. HBP on an 0-2 pitch after fouling off 2 pitches. Bases Loaded Single to score 2; 6-5 Chanticleers Single to score 1; 7-5 CCU NC State goes meekly 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 9th. Season over!
