May 24, 201610 yr It seems that BP has checked out mentally. He has made a couple defensive mistakes lately (some of which were attributed to his teammates) on plays that he routinely makes. Plus swinging at every pitch that bounces in the dirt. I would never throw him a strike. Maybe he is thinking about Washington.
May 25, 201610 yr I usually roll my eyes some when a few posters start talking about how the players don't care or that they aren't trying. 6 errors in two games, I might finally agree.

I was thinking the same thing. I feel like almost every game the past week or so they've had 2-3 errors. It's sad. I think they've checked out already.

Do most or any baseball contracts have individual incentives built in? For example, if a players hits for a certain percentage, they get another $250,000? I'd certainly be disgruntled as an everyday player because of the bullpen and really the overall pitching woes. But at the end of the day, I'd at least think that I'd be playing for the back of my baseball card.

May 25, 201610 yr Votto is batting 204 which is just mind boggling to me, can not pay a man that much money and him bat this bad. However the pitching is the main problem, and while we are usually hammering our LF guys, Duvall having a good year! I would hope if we ever get our starting pitching healthy that the Red bring up Stephenson, Garrett, Reed and at least let them pitch bullpen like the Cardinals do so they can face major league hitters, and prepare them for next season. I think all 3 have a shot at being really good
May 25, 201610 yr Garrett won't be in the majors this year IMO. Stephenson and Reed will be up, and sooner rather than later.

I think all 3 have a shot at being really good Yeah, but at least he is providing Gold Glove defense at 1B -- NOT! I get it. If you can field the ball falling down for no apparent reason and throw the ball underhanded like a softball pitcher when completely unnecessary and do so consistently and without incident, why bother succumbing to conventional norms of how to field and throw? HOWEVER, when you're making errors right and left, maybe go back to the conventional stuff for awhile. If I'm Price I remind him he's getting paid $25M and if he's gonna barely be above the Mendoza line, the least he can do is look like he's trying in the field. Also, Barnhart: we know you have a good arm. Try aiming it before pulling the trigger a few times. Works wonders.

One error in 46 games is committing errors left and right?
May 25, 201610 yr 9-game losing streak matches the same streak on 2015 but only off by one day on the calendar.
May 25, 201610 yr You do realize that last night's error was Votto's 1st of the season, right? One error in 46 games is committing errors left and right? I was going to say the same. I admittedly haven't watched too many games this year but I didn't remember "errors left and right." Looked it up and sure enough he has 1... In 394 chances...
