If you had to pick a player or two from the team you root for on Friday nights, to be either an up and coming solid player or just a flat out beast, who would it be and why?

 

What impact do you envision them having on your team this year? Will they soon be a household name across the bluegrass?

SK DL JJ Courtney he will be a Sophomore this coming season.

Matt Simpson for Conner will be a junior next year. Broke collar bone last year playing vasity which caused him to miss most of the year. Will be an impact player if he can stay healthy.

He got hurt in the SK game on a return I believe. Fast kid should have a great season.

Many have heard the hype on little Vito Tisdale, incoming Frosh for BG Purples. It will be interesting to see how he is used this upcoming season. As crazy as it sounds, he really is not needed on offensive side of ball. Special Teams and some defense may be where he lands.

 

He will be as good as he wants to be. If he can get it done in classroom, whixh he should, look out. Sky is limit. For past 3 seasons (played on 8th grade team for thee years) he has been pretty much unstoppable.

 

Should be really fun to watch.

Konnor Polson, Bullitt East. Was QB 2yrs ago, sat out the entire season last year shoulder injuries. 6'4" and very athletic. Hear he may move to WR.

 

Hunter Perdue, Bullitt East. Only played two games last year, (fractured hip) had over 300 yards and 3 TDs in a couple of games. Saw him a track meet a few weeks ago. He appears to healed.

The Tisdale name is a the prototype for this thread. Kid is going to be a baller.

 

Paducah Tilghman has an Askew kid that will be a Sophomore that is going to be a special talent. He is JD Harmon's cousin and was one of the best individual players in the State while in Middle School.

Belfry has a few Seniors who get all the headlines and rightfully so from an unbelievable class that has ahd numerous guys start since Freshman looking for their 4th ring.

 

With that said, a pair of Belfry Juniors don't get the ink they normally would but are phenomenal football players. LB Derek Wellman and CB Devin Varney are outstanding talents.

 

Usually when a Sophomore CB earns All-State 2nd Team Honors there is a lot of fan fare, but most people don't know who Varney is until they play Belfry.

 

Wellman is a "sneaky" athlete at LB and FB. Recently he turned the head of a particular FBS School who was testing the Belfry Senior Recruits. He was the vocal leader of the Belfry Defense and a quintessential "Gym Rat" kind of player.

 

From the reports I have heard both players have grown physically since the season and both are around 6'2 and a couple steps faster than last year. I expect both to have huge seasons as teams are going to try to test the Belfry LB's and DB's more knowing the DL is so stout.

SR Brandon Leff 5'11 175lb (RB/DB/LB) rushed for 1611 yards on 129 carries and scored 18 rushing TDs last season.

JR Kadin Smith 6'1 175lb (RB/DB) rushed for 1254 yards on 89 carries and scored 15 rushing TDs last season.

Spencer County has a few names you might hear a little about this up coming season.

Both of the kids have really good speed, and should have a great year.

Really like watching the Leff kid play don't be surprised if he is the preseason POY in that Brutal District!

A lot of unknowns for defending state champ Male Bulldogs. The only two players that started last year to return are Srs to be LB/DE Stephon Mayes and CB Nate Hobbs. Both should be dynamic players anchoring a defense lacking big game experience.

 

Look out for RB Davyeon Higgs to burst on the scene. He's a JR to be and a load to bring down. Really got to play late in the season when Gentry got hurt late last year.

Derek Smith Elizabethtown

Been watching this kid since flag football. Will be a Jr this season and has the size and speed to be a legitimate D1 prospect.
