Braxton Ratliff and Will Adkins, Ashland Blazer, both sophomores to be.

 

Ratliff, a transfer from Paintsville is a great athlete. He took some snaps at qb for the Cats last year as well as playing corner. Could be a dual threat as a qb this year and a defensive lockdown coverage man.

 

Adkins is a big qb with a big arm. If they go with Adkins at qb, Ratliff would be a tremendous threat in space as a running back or receiver. Adkins took the majority of snaps during spring ball and looked really good.

 

Excited for what the Tomcats have coming up. Ready for the season to begin.

I feel the same way about Adkins. No offense to Ratliff, he is a great athlete, but Adkins appears to be a true pocket passer. Personally I think Adkins could turn into one of if not the best QB's Ashland has ever had, given his size and arm. Like you said, Ratliff would be a dangerous threat in the open field, so even if the staff chose Adkins at QB, Ratliff would still have a great opportunity to stand out and be a huge contribution to the team.

Another rising sophomore for Ashland who could make an immediate impact is WR/DB Isaac Caines. This kid has great speed, was a middle school high jump state champ, and has sticky hands. If the Cats are going to throw it around this year (and I sure hope they do) he would be a great deep threat. He and Adkins have been linking up for some major aerial yardage since 7th grade.

Must be the name, lol. Jacob Ratliff for Oldham County will be a Sophomore this year. Led the Freshman team in tackles and 2nd in JV. Led the Freshman in all receiving categories. The talk around campus is they are looking at moving him to RB. Looks to see significant playing time in varsity this year. Was timed by Hudl at a 4.6 and is only getting faster.

I'll echo Eightdigits on this one. Isaac Caines is the real deal. He's played with my grandson, Will Adkins - (forgive the shameless family self promotion!) from Middle School through Freshman season. Will can throw it, and Isaac can go up and get it! Strong passing tandem.

With two very talented sophomore QB's (each with their own special skill sets) along with some other talented young guys could possibly give Ashland a strong and diverse attack beginning this season - and into the forseeable future.

Hey ATLCAT thanks for recognizing Askew at PT. I have seen him play on many occasions and STUD is a perfect word for him. In addition Tilghman has a incoming freshman QB by the name of Jackson Fristoe. Remember that name. IMO he will most likely be an All American before he leaves Tilghman. He just recently competed in one of the national middle school all star football games and is a starting pitcher for the varsity baseball team. Not many know about him but with the implementation of the spread offense by the new coaching staff it will not take long for many to know who he is. Just my opinion.
