Per another thread, it was said they would be looking to have a coach within a week. Last time I heard Shumate, Stapleton, and Frommeyer were the finalists. I do know they were still accepting applications though so that finalists list is subject to change.

With those 3:

Shumate - the veteran coach with head coaching experience who left the state after leaving Beechwood. Did some solid things at Beechwood but will he be able to do the same at a larger school?

Stapleton - seasoned assistant with some red-letter 10th region experience who may be primed for a head coaching job.

Frommeyer - longtime Scott freshmen coach who is either the best or one of the best freshmen coaches in the area. Very demanding and very intelligent but no experience above the freshmen level as a head coach.

Who is/was the Scott JV basketball coach?

Stapleton. They finished 13-4, and only lost to one 10th region team the whole year. Beat Scott Co at Scott Co as well.

My mistake. Saw the name in post #4 and should have been able to clue myself in on that one.

Don't know how you could pick the freshman coach over the varsity assistant in the chain of command.

Most years the win at Scott Co would carry a little more weight. I am pretty sure that the top 3 scorers on the Varsity squad were Freshman or Sophomores so this does have an impact on their JV squad.

If the new coach can boast a win over Scott Co in two years, I think that would be saying something.

Hearing that Rinehart (sp) has gotten a second interview. If he becomes the choice, the Scott basketball program will crumble. There will be a lot of unhappy parents and players. The Scott HS administration proves once again that they are absolutely clueless when it comes to just about everything.

I'm going to leave it at this. If Rinehart gets the job then there will be a LOT of moves made....

The problem if you visit the Kenton website is the lack of open teaching positions. I remember when schools would make a position for the coaches doesn't seem to be the case anymore. I didn't know Reinhardt was associated with this job...but maybe that's why he's not the coach at Grant County?

Hiring Reinhardt will be the biggest mistake Scott can make at this point. Scott wants someone who will stay for the long run, Reinhardt has a track record for not staying anywhere for very long at all... Stapelton and Frommeyer know the responsibilities that come with the job and will be there for a VERY long time.

Will they hire someone from previous staff?

I don't think you can hire someone from the previous staff. It seems as though Carr is gone for things that some might feel should have been brought to administrator's attention earlier. Not my opinion but some might feel this way. I would go outside the current staff to completely wipe myself of the situation.

I follow your logic but if that is the case then Trame should be removed from coaching. He too, was an assistant on the staff and perhaps failed to bring things to the administrations attention?

Of course I have no proof of any of this but it would be odd to say some assistants witnessed things while others didn't and therefore I make certain hiring decisions

I would assume there is a lot of pressure on the administration because Kenton county (Scott leadership in particular) seems to have no problem throwing someone else under the bus for self preservation. If they make a convenient or bad hire then the Scott principle will co time to show poor judgement and sooner or later the superintendent is going to have to be dealt with for allowing such fiascos to continue and not dealing with it appropriately

Lad thing, in my line of work anytime we deal with an employee issue we have to smoke sure we are 100% consistent. if a Kenton county employee ever exhibits similar alleged behavior I would think they have to be treated accordingly. If you ever ever cuss are you terminated from your position? Are their different levels of cursing? Are certain individuals just slapped on the wrist? I've her of another Kenton county coach allegedly being reprimanded for cursing so what's the difference?

I dunno, this whole thing seems really strange.

Of course all of what I mentioned above could be inaccurate but their are a lot of slippery situations it appears

If this were the case, wouldn't the powers that be have made it known to those who were on staff? Therefore, they wouldn't have applied or be interviewed.
