May 8, 201610 yr You will find I am wide open to discussing a wide range of topics, and willing to consider other viewpoints. But I don't engage in "conversation" when the call to do so is phrased with a dead end statement. You are welcome to think what you like of me. I don't give two figs what your opinion of me may be. I am 100% secure in my beliefs, and the way I choose to live my life. If at the end of the day I'm stricken to death by an illegal terrorist immigrant while walking down the street unarmed; or assaulted by a transgender in a restroom; I will go to my grave knowing I lived my life as openly and accepting of all others as I possibly could. It's all I can do. And we each must decide for ourselves how we will live and what we will believe. I'm pretty sure that we were separated at birth.
May 8, 201610 yr Parents who are here illegally are more than welcome to take their children back with them to their countries of origin. That applies also to parents of anchor babies. I was referring to people that are now adults, who were brought to the US as children. I won't even bother discussing your second sentence. I find the very use of the term "anchor babies" repugnant.

I find the very use of the term "anchor babies" repugnant. n. Offensive Used as a disparaging term for a child born to a noncitizen mother in a country that grants automatic citizenship to children born on its soil, especially when the child's birthplace is thought to have been chosen in order to improve the mother's or other relatives' chances of securing eventual citizenship.
May 8, 201610 yr First of all, all violent Illegals should be sent home immediately. THERE COULD BE SOME FORM TO GRANDFATHER THEM IN AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT FELONS.They have to learn to speak English, learn the pledge of Allegiance, read and understand the constitution and finally understand our 3 branches of government. If they can't , or just don't want to, then they cannot assimilate and become Real Americans. If they really want American Citizenship, then they have to earn it. My ancestors came as refugees, 2 great grandfathers, 2 great grandmothers, grandfathers and grandmothers as babies. Some came in through Ellis Island, and southern ports of entry, my great grandfather Mockabee was here early in Kentucky with Daniel Boone. My great grandmother Cummins- Mockabee was captured by the Indians and scalped an lived to tell about it. She was captive for 2-4 years. I'm not writing this history to bore you, just trying to explain how difficult it is to become a legal American citizen. So for ALL Illegals, go home, come back legally and get in the back of the line. America is a stand in line and pay the time kind of country. Maybe patience will make them a better candidate. If they don't like it, then return home.

How one can perceive it as a dead end question is beyond me. Maybe you just don't like it that others think differently that you do. I have no idea where the transgender line comes from. I've never commented on the subject. Totally irrelevant to this thread.

Here you go: Still no answer on what issue those on the Left have with stemming ILLEGAL immigration. I really doubt I will get an answer.
May 8, 201610 yr Here you go: I had asked the question and only received one snide comment. Then I made that statement. Seems after that statement, people were willing to discuss the subject. This is a serious subject, no matter who is elected POTUS. Unless we stem the tide of illegal immigration' we will have ramifications that we may find it nearly impossible to recover from.

I agree it's serious. BUT have you read any posts by anyone other than those who agree with you in any of the plethora of previous threads addressing this issue? It's insulting to those of us that constantly reply, only to be told we never reply. If the issue is you aren't reading, then maybe take the time to do so. If the issue is that you don't agree with the replies, maybe ask questions instead of shutting down the conversation with derisive comments. If the issue is you don't agree and don't consider the responses valid because they don't align with what you want to hear, then I go back to my assertion that there's no point in engaging.

Agreed, RM. I, for one, have only posted on the subject of immigration (in particular, the Dream Act) a bazillion times, though I do go on self-ordered hiatus when this and the CI forum become places where no one REALLY wants discussion...they only want to put others down. Unfortunately, too many fit in that camp. I'm all for discussing the issues and trying to come up with viable solutions. That's what BGP used to be, on both sides of the aisle. Sure, we had some in both camps that were insufferable, but I used to learn quite a bit from those who believed differently from me and sometimes even changed my mind. Now, there are so many insults that I often think, what's the point in trying. Seriously, I don't think that some WANT solutions. They only WANT to insult and point out how "non-PC" they are, as if that's a good thing. Back when I was growing up, my grandmother taught me that you were nice to people and you talked nicely about them. That's not PC. That's being a caring, decent and for she and I, a Christian human being. Sorry to meander and rant. It was on my mind this morning.

If I don't agree, I always say why I disagree. It's not that I don't read or consider any valid points. There may have been a thread a few months ago, does that mean the subject can't ever be discussed again? I have a hard time remembering what I had for lunch last week much less what was said in a thread months ago. As far as derisive comments, if you are asserting that is all I make, I submit I am not the one not wanting to hear what the other side of an issue is saying. Why is it if someone states an opinion that differs from some others, they are being derisive? Is it the tone or the content? Just because you don't like what another person says does not make it derisive. Many people are not PC. I don't have a problem with anyone being PC or not PC. Individuals are unique. I doesn't make them correct or incorrect, just unique.

Y'all are free to think what you like of me, what I believe, my values. I'm simply done. I don't feel I need to defend my thoughts. I'm done being chastised and derided by those who have no respect for me. So, consider it a victory. You've shouted down and shut down someone who disagrees with you. You win. Rockmom out.

Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they don't respect you. I've never looked to shut anyone down. I've looked for insight into other view points.
