Just found out, Bullitt Central is going to open up. Not sure on the whole back story to it. But I do know that there has been a lot of turnover in the building from an administrative stand point.

 

Anyone know all the details as to why? Did Lawson leave on his own terms? Did he want out? Did the administration push him out?

 

Who is up next? Someone on staff currently? Former grad? Good ole boy of the principal?

I know he was pursuing a dream job...perhaps he resigned to go after it.

He was pursuing many jobs from what I hear.

Moving on after one season as head coach, and from the sound of things he's been looking for another job.

 

Is there anything in particular that he is seeking out that made him leave Bullitt Central?

 

Are there any problems at Bullitt Central that would have him looking elsewhere after such a short tenure?

From what I understand this is consistent with his personality. Maybe he was looking for greener pastures. I don't really know but for a first time head coach to land at BC is about as good as it might get here in KY. Any decent team in Jefferson County is going to have more qualified occupants I'm sure.

They've had a lot of turnover at the top there. Their former AD, Gossett, left and took the Lou. Southern HFC job last year. They've gotten a new principal and their new AD, Clark Teague, who was a 20+ year coaching vet in the state (HC and asst) that just so happens to be about as good of a guy as you could hope to work for just resigned the AD post.

Several reasons for this thread and you all can continue to comment and slander as need be.

 

1. I was offered the AD position which would mean a nice financial increase, which having a newborn seemed fairly smart but I wanted to stay at BC, get that through your concussed brains. I would remain on staff as unofficial HC as not to interrupt the work the kids had been doing. (BCPS does not allow AD to be HC). Former AD publicly resigned and I was asked for my letter of interest for the AD position accompanied by my HC resignation so hiring could be done within house.

 

Letter of resignation was filed and I was told I would no longer be a candidate for AD. I now have to re-apply for my job as HC.

 

2. I have been open with my administration about the 3 jobs I applied for this off season, all 3 in which I considered a step up. (dream jobs are a stretch--- I coached at Male, I know what greener pastures look like)

 

3. I have been at BC for two and half years, 3 off seasons. I have been in the county for 6 years as a teacher. 3 principals and 7 asst Principals have come and gone and now a 3rd AD will be hired at Bullitt Central.

 

4. Leasor told me when I took over, don't take the job Tye it's a HC grave yard. My mentors told me before their departure, that I needed to get out of BC while I was marketable. Instead, I wanted to prove them wrong and I wanted to stay. Don't make this look like I'm out searching and leaving my guys high and dry. That's not me. Re-applying is not of my choosing. There are better candidates out there--- absolutely there are; however, every Jordan has a Lebron and every Kobe has a Curry; every Montana has a Young; you all might be better but I'm willing to out work the majority of you.

 

I always told myself I wouldn't answer the critics but I'm feeling a little spiteful today. Don't get on here and act like you know me.

Well said coach and good luck to you. So many coaches on this site (state) don't have a clue about anything. I get hammered all the time for supporting a guy (Nathan McPeek) I'm friends with and so many of his so called friends get online and don't support him. It's sad that people enjoy/love to bash others when bad things happen. When you think about life in general not many people are truly your friends and truly care about you. 90 percent of people are happy you have problems and don't ever want to help you fix them. The coaching profession is a tough job and I for one will always support coaches thru the good but most importantly thru the bad times. Good luck to you coach!!

I'm for it. Any man that is pursuing his dream jobs has every right to do so!

This whole thing stinks. First thing that stands out is the turnover at the top....they've had a lot at both the principal an AD role (didn't realize their new AD resigned). Then you have the fact that the HC feels the need to come on here and defend himself.

 

Hard to blame a guy for looking at 3 other jobs when you have so much turnover at the top. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if he's applied for the Nelson and North Oldham jobs, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a bad taste in his mouth right now and hasn't.

 

What I don't understand, is why they would ask him to resign his head coaching position BEFORE he was offered the AD position. Seems to me like applying/interviewing for the AD position would be something he could do while still acting as HC, and that he would resign HC if offered AD.....the whole "unofficial head coach" thing seems a little off...... and like I said, the whole things stinks.

 

Stinks for Coach Lawson, and definitely stinks for the kids at BC......maybe we could feel better if we thought they had an admin in place that was looking out for them.....but with no AD and no HC, where do they go from here?

 

Anyone know if they were going to have spring ball? What kind of assistants do they have in place to hold this all together?

This is a really unfortunate situation for the kids on that team. They really seem to have a lot of challenges ahead of them. I really wish them the best of luck with.

 

Any have any insight on who they may have in mind for a replacement, or whou would be interested in taking on this challenge? Surely they have some feelers out.

The Head Coach position was posted this morning. Don't all run towards the job at once. The Principal has had this plan in motion for awhile to get his buddy in there. It doesn't matter who you are, how good of a job you can do, or what you have done. I've known Mr. Beavers from his previous schools and he has a record of bringing in his own people and doing favors for his buddies rather than what's good for the program. Adam Perry will be the next BC Head Coach.
