I believe he threw a 3 yard completion that was then taken 70 yards. At the end of the day a qb has to be able to pass the ball to be effective. I liked what I saw from Johnson but he won't be able to run like that against sec teams. Every qb looks good running against UKs defense.

 

Barkers 2 tds where all on the receivers, plus he over through receivers several times. Johnson didn't have a receiver that could catch in the first half I believe 3 straight dropped balls big difference from working withs 3s and 2s compared to working with the 1s. Johnson running the ball the kid is probably fast as or faster than any UK back.

I think the word they used was growth. I'd imagine he has grown some since arriving on campus at 17 years old.

Barker has been named the starting QB. Stoops said Johnson pushed Barker all spring but late in the spring Barker pulled away from home.

 

Denzil Ware said he is 100% behind Barker and that he will do great things.

 

Jeff Badet said it is like Barker is a different person this year.

 

When Barker was asked about his growth he said, "I'm 20 years old now. I was 17 when I got here."

Last year Stoops took it until August to name a starter. So he must have had seen more from Barker than Johnson to go ahead and name Barker the starter.

 

Johnson is fast though and would be a good backup because his style will be different and a good change of pace to throw teams off if Barker gets hurt during a game and Johnson has to play.

You can maybe make an argument for Towles but your boy Phillips never played because he wasn't better than either of the guys in front of him. Also as for Towles two years as a starter produced zero bowl games. So going with the younger guy is not a horrible thing.

As I have said numerous times your clear bias has stopped you from having any realistic opinion. Which means it's impossible to listen to anything you say.
