Most Prevalent Thrift Store/Goodwill Books

Featured Replies

As a frequenter of thrift stores throughout the area, I often see the same book titles at practically every one of them. In no particular order, here are the ones that seem to be the most prevalent.

Left Behind (must be several in the series)

Going Rogue - Sarah Palin

See I Told You So - Rush Limbaugh

Any number of John Grisham and Scott Turow titles

Twilight series

If I'm betting, the most common records found at such locations have Andy Williams involved. (Sorry Papa, I know you're a big fan.)

Hardy har.

I'm more of a Caruso guy. He had a set of pipes.

David Caruso? He should've picked that over acting.

In all seriousness, the records I see most are those cheesy piano and orchestra records by people like Mantovani.

I think there are 7 or 8 of these.

I found an early edition copy of Gone With the Wind at a Goodwill.

8 times 2.

My first thought that there were 13-14, but wasn't confident about it and too lazy to look it up.

Bracken County Math says 8 times 2 is 16.

The series was originally supposed to be a trilogy, then it became a 7-part series, and then 13. Then they decided to do a prequel trilogy that led up to the original Left Behind book to make 16 total. I read the 13, but didn't read the prequel trilogy. The longer the series went, the worse it got. And while I totally dismiss the theology of the books, the first 7 or 8 were decent reads for Christian fiction, which is usually a pretty crappy genre.

Same here. Got a nice price for it.

Are these also the same books you most often see at yard sales? I hardly ever yard sale, but when I've gone, I see a lot of Left Behind & Grisham.

I went to a Half-Price Books wholesale thing a while back, and it was a little different. A whole lot of James Patterson there.

Fewer of the political ones at yard sales.
