April 13, 201610 yr Author One of the most memorable Reds' games for me occurred when I had just turned 10. Danny Murtaugh called upon ace reliever Dave Giusti to come on in the ninth and retire Bench, Perez , and Menke. He retired none of the three. After a Bench dinger and two singles, Bob Moose replaced Giusti and George Foster ran for Perez. With two outs, Hal McCrae batted for Clay Carroll and the stage was set for a very memorable Al Michaels call: "The stretch and the one-one pitch to McRae. In the dirt! It's a wild pitch! Here comes Foster! ... " Soon after, 10 year-old SF got doused with a can of beer by his grandfather. I can remember celebrating with pawpaw like it was yesterday. I can still see Hal jumping up and down and Foster clapping his hands as he trotted to home plate. Surely, you remember this one ?
