Vi is great. What about Ron Welch? RW. He is a great man who would do anything for the young men of Highlands.

It would be wrong not to mention Ed and Laura Hausfeld from Bellevue. During my 4 yrs there I think they both were at every baseball game handling drinks/tootsie rolls, equipment, driving to and from games. In Football Mr. Ed was at every practice and game, and in Basketball he never missed a game. I know he is getting up there in age now and wasnt a young guy back then in the late 80's but those two definitely devoted thousands of hours to Bellevue Athletics.

In addition to Mr. and Mrs. Ed, there was Jeff James. He was the team manager/inspiration leader for what seem like an eternity. Also we can't forget Lige Delaney. It is very strange not to see these folks on the sidelines on friday nights. I am sure that is due to their age. I know that Lige passed a few years back. These people show what having true school spirit is all about.

Any Parents that support thier son's football career, even if they do not play

Thanks for pointing those guys out Btownguy. Jeff was there mainly during the State Championship Bellevue teams and some during my tenure there.

Lige was also there right alongside the Hausfeld's.

Will never Forget Jeff's famous quote, " You guys gonna beat Dayton ? " You have to know Jeff to really appreciate the tone of this quote. He could get you fired up on the spot. :thumb:

For the Somerset Briar Jumpers it is Belinda Hinton, her son has graduated and she still cooks breakfast for the team every Friday morning and is there for anything those young men, the coaches or any of the parents need. She is tireless in her endeavours in helping the Somerset Briar Jumpers.

However the most special is Dallas Salmons, Dallas has struggled with bad health problems the last few years but he mows, rakes, and is the foreman and ringleader of the field paint crew. He is a special man and does not get near the credit he deserves-mostly because he does not seek it- but he is loved and honored by those who know him!!!

The Newport Booster club is great they get team meals together, snacks, decorate player's houses, and even have a pep bus available to all away games. Keep up the good work!!!

Highlands Booster club...... the motivational notes and candy left on each players door the nite before game day. WOW!.... I was pumped up and my son could not wait for game day. A SPECIAL THANKS TO ALL THE BLUEBIRDS BOOSTER....TEAM MOMS YOU'RE ALL ARE WONDERFUL...:I have always wanted to say THANK YOU.

A lot of people probably wouldn't consider them behind the scenes because they do the games on the radio, but Dicky Martin and David "Dirk" Payne have long been huge supporters of the Ashland Tomcats. I know there have been hundreds of financial supporters of the Tomcat Booster Club over the years , but I bet a lot of people would be shocked at how much Dirk has probably given of his time and money over the years. I can't imagine a better Booster club through out the state.

He is the GREATEST.:thumb:

I can't tell you how many times he has come to my rescue when I needed something at the High School.

A Huge BLUEBIRD THANKS from this fan.:ylsuper:
