April 5, 201610 yr Today's crowd 43,683 is the largest during the regular season at Great American Ball Park. Looked like a lot of empty seats on tv.
April 5, 201610 yr Was she upstairs? I didn't see who I think may be your daughter. She was upstairs.
April 5, 201610 yr My first opening day was a success. Took the day off work and headed downtown around 10am. Started at fountain square, headed to Tin Roof, back to the square for the parade, then to the banks block party and then to the game. Only bought beers from vendors during the game in support of our BGP vendor friends. And the Reds came out with a W!! It did get awfully cold when the clouds rolled in though. Therefore the Reds made some money off my sweatshirt purchase. Cozart had himself a day!
April 5, 201610 yr Looked like a lot of empty seats on tv. I would imagine that a lot of people opted to hang out on the concourse instead. Not sure why, maybe to hang with groups of friends. It was difficult to get through at times.
April 5, 201610 yr Only bought beers from vendors during the game in support of our BGP vendor friends. Even though they werent from me, it is appreciated.
April 5, 201610 yr How close was Bruce to brining the HR back in? Couldn't really tell but looked pretty close from where I was.
April 5, 201610 yr I would imagine that a lot of people opted to hang out on the concourse instead. Not sure why, maybe to hang with groups of friends. It was difficult to get through at times. There were major issues on the concourse. We were upstairs and it took 2 innings to get through a 10 person nacho line. Definitely understaffed at the stands. Looked for ya downstairs when we got there before heading up, but didn't see you. With that many people in attendance, I imagine it was a pretty good day for the vendors.
April 5, 201610 yr Even though they werent from me, it is appreciated. I was up top behind the plate. Didn't move around the ballpark like normal because of the crowds.
April 5, 201610 yr I made fun of my wife for bringing gloves and her winter coat....Once the clouds rolled in, she was the one laughing. :lol2:

Can't speak for everyone, but it was definitely a solid Opening Day for several of us downstairs. Doubled up on beer most of the day and paying the price for it a little this morning but I'd absolutely do it again if I could haha!
April 5, 201610 yr Granted I'm not expecting big crowds this year, but I would have thought that there would have been a bigger one for Opening Night. Gonna be weak tomorrow I think. Seems like the Reds usually promote that pretty well as an alternative to Opening Day for families.
April 6, 201610 yr I'm not sure they're gonna get another game in until Saturday. Nasty rain looks to be starting this afternoon and lasting through the night Friday.
April 6, 201610 yr Dealt with a lot of rain during Opening Week last year. If my memory serves me right, they didn't start the Opening Night game until 9:45 last year. Pretty sure I worked until 9:40 and didn't see a pitch.
