This just confirms to me that no matter what the Bengals have been telling us (not much) they know LB is an area of concern.

Now if we could just get the Bengals off the Peko Train and sign a quality DT to go with Geno I would really be happy.

Or if tells us they know they could get a talented guy for cheap, who even though he is older he is still an upgrade over AJ Hawk. Plus he gives them more options to play with lineup wise at linebacker.

If his level of play is still high like last year, then I think he is the second best backer on the team behind Tez. What I would be interested in seeing is if they decide to move Rey M back to the Sam linebacker position he played his first two years. The Sam backer only plays 30 percent of snaps for Bengals in defense usually anyways. Which is when teams have a run formation in on run down. Then have Dansby or Tez be the new mike "middle" backer and the other being the will backer.

I trade you LB Moats from the Steelers for Peko.

Seems like they are interested in Danzby every year he's eligible. Seems like they kicked the tires in 2010 as well as prior to his signing with Cleveland.

Is the Bengals D so complex that they are more comfortable signing vets that have seen better days? I know they tend to know all of the tricks (i.e, holding) of pass overage and can read run better than rookies.

I wouldn't read too much into the Bengals signing Dansby. They are adding quality depth to a suspect group. Dansby is a 3 down LB, something the Bengals are severely lacking after Tez.

A good signing for the Bengals. He is a quality LB.

That is how I think about it, thanks og.

Athlon had Dansby as the #10 ranked ILB going into 2015. He was ranked top 5 in 2014. Curious where they have him going into 2016.

That's good company.

And here is a quick bit of info from CincyJungle via ProFootballFocus:

According to Pro Football Focus, Dansby was the 25th-best linebacker and sixth-best coverage backer in the NFL last season, a weakness for the Bengals when in nickel situations a year ago. Vincent Rey finished with the 83rd-ranked coverage grade out of 94 qualifying linebackers in 2015.

Bengal fans realize they got a Browns player and it is a upgrade that is not good.

When I think of Dansby, I see him in a Cardinals uniform when he was awesome.
