Dylan James

Will he be a candidate for Mr BB next season? Are any D-1 schools looking at him?

He will be back at Sheldon Clark next season according to sources. He is a great player but may not garner a lot of statewide attention compared to other players

No and No but he will be a great high school player next season.

He is one of best high school shooters that I have seen. From a shooting standpoint he has to rank as one of best in the state. As we saw at state he can't create his own shot and was somewhat of a non factor. He doesn't handle the ball very well and I don't see how he could guard a perimeter player in college at the NAIA level much less D-1 and don't think at 6'3/6'4 that he would play the post in college. He averaged a double double since 8th grade and scored 1,500 points thru sophomore year at Sheldon Clark and I had never heard of him until he came to Mercer. Seems like 15th region doesn't get as much exposure as other regions throughout the state. There may always be a spot for a knock down shooter at the college level I just wonder about the rest of his game.

Who will coach him next year? Does he have a brother that is tall?

I've been thinking long and hard for a comparison. Dylan James reminds me of Jeremy Johnson, who played at Shelby Valley in the early 90's and then at Alice Lloyd College.

He shoots the lights out and has good size but is a little slow and needs to transform his body to be a star at the next level.

If he spent the entire summer in a strength and conditioning program, he could come out and be an unstoppable force next season...especially in the 15th region.

So he's a perimeter player that can't guard that spot and can't get his own shot. That clearly answers the Mr. BB question.

I think I saw him play years ago in an AAU game. He must have been playing up because the kids he played against are Juniors in college now.

Yes around 6'7 will be either a 8th grader or Freshman

Jason James is the coach at Sheldon Clark and is Dylan's uncle.

I'm thinking he'll be an 8th grader next year.

Trey will be in 8th Grade. If Dylan wins KABC POY (which he will be favored to do so), then he will be a Mr. Basketball finalist. Chances to win? Thats a different story. Candidate, most likely.
