Scandal at Western Kentucky

Featured Replies

One other thing to keep in mind is that if the girl in this case did not file a complaint with the police, there is nothing to be investigated by the authorities. The fact WKU did a on-campus hearing should tell everyone a great deal since there is no police investigation.

So this is not a criminal complaint but just a university inquiry ? Then there is no story, this is a mutual gig between two students, with a video that someone doesn't want splashed all over social media....

Nothing to see here, move along....

Wrong. You need to read the WKU handbook on behavior and student code of conduct. Plenty of story here, especially since the head coach and AD knew about it.

Wonder what the deal is if a tape was made of 4 adults and no crime was committed was there any crime or university policy broke? Seams like something is missing as you can do what you want to in the privacy of your own place.

Code of conduct violations/WKU handbook, and the fact the head coach and AD both tried to sweep under the rug?

If this had happened at UK, Matt Jones never would have said a word. Keep that in mind. This will not be a huge national story like he tried to say. It will be a big story in Bowling Green, because it is bad, but most people around the country will just yawn.

Are you saying consensual sex between two students is against the code of conduct and handbook at WKU??

Two students?

4 students? 8 students? Does the number matter?
That's what she said.

I'll say this. There are details that need to be known before this one will make full sense. It's an ugly mess.

You are right. Once this is out, people will understand. It's bad for a lot of reasons.

Big difference between 2 and 4 in certain venues.

Not really. Not if all involved are consenting.

Venues do make a difference when a university code is involved. So does the definition of "consent" and "obstruction" by university employees.

Well, things are really getting ugly. The strong words from Bowling Green is that both Ransdell (the president of WKU) and Stewart (the AD) knew about this situation since November and allowed the three players to continue playing. They will soon join Harper out the WKU door. Amazing they sat around for five months and did nothing until after the C-USA Tournament.

The WKU student newspaper wrote an editorial a few hours ago online and blasted the WKU administration for a cover-up and lack of transparency. They are hiding behind FERPA and not releasing the emails that would supposedly tell the entire story. That's why the BG Dailey News is being so careful, WKU is in damage control mode. Look for Ransdell to retire sooner than expected and Stewart to exit campus by June. 30.
