What is your home course?

Featured Replies

Just wondering what everyone considers their home course? I would have to say mine is Wasioto Winds, even though I am in Lexington for much of the year. I am also very interested to hear about the guys from Lexington and the surrounding areas.

I'm also looking to find a job at a Lexington area course if anyone has any knowledge about a good choice for a course. I am looking to get into the industry and become an apprentice some time after I graduate in December, so I am hoping to find a course soon. Jahearme and Digger are two guys I am very interested in hearing from.

I have a membership at Old Silo. It is a great challenge and the deal they offer is very hard to beat.

As for finding a job in the Lexington area, I would suggest getting in with the Parks and Recreation Dept. That way, you could have an opportunity at 4 courses (Lakeside, Tates Creek, Kearney Hill, and Picadome). I believe Mike Fields is still in charge of Parks and Rec. Digger and I are buddies with the assistant at Kearney and I played college golf with the head Pro. at Tates Creek. We will help you out any way we can.

A course that has no pro. at all (to my knowledge) is Houston Oaks in Paris. You might go see if they ywould be interested in having a pro. at their course.

The thing about Parks and Rec is that I dont believe they have many winter positions. I was going to try there today but none of the pros were in. The only place I got to talk to anyone was Cashman at U. Club. It looks possible, but not necessarily definite. He knows the pro I used to work for and I am really would think I have a good chance at Tates Creek or Kearney because my pro was pretty tight with Carmello and McDowell from what he says.

That is odd that Houston Oaks doesnt have a pro. I may end up going and trying there. Thanks for the help.

Back to your original question, my "home course" is Legendary Run in Cincinnati (east side).

Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg,Ky.

Don't really have one. Play AJ Jolly several times. Flagg Springs. Kincaid Lake State Park. Pines in Ohio. Kenton Station. All about 3-5 times per year.

Wasioto Winds at Pine Mountain State Park.

I played Old Silo today. Nice course. I was disappointed with no map on the scorecard or cart for a few blind shots. I didnt putt well, the green speed was a little inconsistent which bothered me, but I didnt play too bad. I will go back one day soon.

I have a couple of pretty good prospects for jobs at this point in time. I have to call back to U. Club. Kearney said they would have something but it doesnt pay much and would only last to Nov. Champion Trace said they really needed someone in the pro shop and he is supposed to call back tomorrow or Thursday. And one of my friends' brother is now the pro at Cherry Blossom apparently because apparently Tierney has resigned his position out there, so I am supposed to go talk to him tomorrow and maybe play a round with him. She also said there is a chance I could get the assistant pro job out there. Hopefully something can get worked out so I can start on my quest for my future.

Were you in any of the sand traps at Old Silo? There's something like 95 of them:eek:

bell,

If you need someone to talk to any of the pros in Lex I will. Know them all pretty well. :thumb: Just let me know. Good luck. U Club sounds promising. I would prob check into that one first. Cashman is first class.

Thats what I hear. It's also one reason I would really like to work for him. Which brings me to my current dilemma. Today I was offered a job at Cherry Blossom in which I would start Friday. Good that I have been offered, but its not my first choice as U. Club and Champion Trace would have to be ahead of that b/c of the good things I've heard about Cashman and I need to learn the private ropes. I'm supposed to call Walker at CB back tomorrow to iron out all the details and get everything set up. I am just wondering if I should call CT and U. Club back and say I was offered a position elsewhere, but I really would like to be at your course for ......reason. I was just curious if you had found anything out about that yet. Any advice?

Call U Club and Champions. Be honest w/ them, tell them what you have been offered and they will more than likely be up front to you about what you should do. Best of luck. Don't think I won't be hitting you up at Cherry Blossom either!!!

Sorry I neglected your question. I was actually only in two of them.

Looks like I will be working at Cherry Blossom full time and should be able to move up to assistant pro before long. Looks like I'm starting to grow up. Scary.
