Why Can't Highlands Get Boone Co On It's Softball Schedule?

Featured Replies

I would not want to play them until 9th region final, when top baseball teams play each other, they don't show there strength, they will not pitch there best during regular season. Fastpitch, you usually only have 1 pitcher. Why show your pitcher to the favorite in region. Just my opinion...IF I was a contender, I would not show my strengths, IF I did play them.

Pretty sure both teams' coaches know the strengths of each others' teams......

It looks like both teams are playing tough schedules with several tournaments outside NKY which I think is great. It's good to get some exposure to other regions for NKY softball. Boone looks like they scheduled district and conference games. According to KHSAA they did not play last year either so I assume it's not a rivalry game. I would say as an outsider looking in you may be reading too much into them not playing. Especially if it is a non district, non conference game.

33rd district is toughest district in region. They play each other in seeding play, they know each other very well, obviously you didn't read why I said if you don't have to play them (District seeding, Conference Play) then don't. They would be no reason too. In BASEBALL, you have more pitchers that pitch. You will not see 2 aces going against each other if the game has no meaning (district seeding) I know I wouldn't. Softball you usually don't have that luxury of multiple pitchers. You might be able to scout a team, but batters would not get a feel of pitcher unless there in the box. So why show your pitcher to a team if you don't have to, until you meet them in post season.

So if you were a head coach, you would only play the teams in your region that you had to play. (As in district opponents)? That sounds like that would be your philosophy...as in you wouldn't want any of your region challengers to see your pitcher until it meant something. Is that Boone's philosophy? Cause I think they have other challengers on their schedule. It also seems odd that you wouldn't want to see your challengers so your team and your pitcher could make adjustments if needed the second time around. Meaning that someone hit your pitcher well, you may try a different approach the second time around or even pitch around that player.

Didn't we all hear this in Football? Mueller retires, then all of a sudden, Highlands is on everyone's schedule. I think you HHS folks look externally for answers when in reality, they are internal!

They are holding a 30 year grudge for taking the Beagle brothers!

Now that's funny right there!!!! Excellent play tark.

Well here's a start. Highlands JV has a Double header at Boone on 3/22. Baby steps! I wonder if Boone's Varsity plays that night? I know that when we were there as a Frosh program in the past, the Boone Varsity team normally worked the Concessions and Gate. I love seeing the girls getting more involved and helping out than just playing for the program.
