Eric Winston is staying with the Bengals for another year

Featured Replies

The president of the NFL Players Association remains an NFL player.

Bengals tackle Eric Winston just tweeted out word that he had re-upped with the Bengals, a one-year deal which will pay him $1.09 million.

The 32-year-old Winston gives the Bengals some experience and depth, with right tackle Andre Smith headed to free agency.

The Bengals have some younger tackles on the roster, but Winston’s a good presence to have as they groom 2015 draft picks Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher for future roles.

I like it. I know this is minor in the grand scheme of things but I believe Winston has done a fine job for the Bengals filling in when needed.

Congrats Eric Winston!

Isnt he the NFLPA President? Never hurts to have that guy on your team does it.

As long as he doesn't have to start. He is a backup that the Bengals got off the scrap heap and nothing more. I saw several games where Andre Smith was hurt and they beat him like a drum.

You sure you wasn't watching Smith? That also happpened to Smith a lot too.

It's a veteran backup to have who can fill in at guard or tackle.

Another backup offensive lineman that came real cheap. He is what he is and you can't expect much out of him at $1m a year. Mike Brown will never pay good backup offensive players much money. That's why every time a starter goes down the team suffers big time.

What team does pay good backup lineman a lot of money?

I agree with ya'll, just a "good to have" backup for a couple of game or even a few snaps or going big on short yardage.

Good signing as long as it doesn't take away young talent.

What team even has good back-up linemen?

Exactly! It's like he just wants to keep following the 90s narrative and just blame Brown.
