Doss 58 Bulllitt East 54 (6th Region Championship)

Doss wins the 6th Region.

Very disappointing for Bullitt East. Kudos to Tony Williams for getting Doss back to the state tournament with a very different team from last year.

Better pay attention to Doss. Very athletic and tall.

Congrats to Tony Williams and his team. Caused East lots of problems with an ever changing array of zone defenses to slow Tyler Sharpe. They mixed in a very aggressive man to man defense in the second half and built a 12 point lead. East fell in love with the three ball, settling for tough perimeter shots at times. Doss is a versatile team and will be a tough out at Rupp.

Doss will face the winner between Johnson Central and Lawrence County in the state tournament.

I don't think either team stands a chance against Doss. But, that's why they play the game. Good luck 15th.

I hear that every single year but the 15th is still there with a chance to win in the end. Last year vs. Ballard when Johnson Central had it tied late in the 4th. Year before that when JC went to the Elite 8 and had the ball in a tie game with Scott County under a minute to play. The year before that when JC and Shane Hall cut it to 4 in 3rd against Ballard (who lost a heartbreaker in the state championship game - JC was a bunch of young kids then too). Even in 2010 when Shelby Valley beat Ballard then went on to win the state.

Everyone overlooks the 15th, but we still give the big schools all they want and then some. May not be on the winning side, but despite drawing the Louisville area 3 of the last 4 years we had a real chance to win those games in the 2nd half. I expect Doss to get a win, but I expect it to be much closer than many anticipate with a chance for my region to steal one.

Sheriff, I couldn't have explained it any better...nuff said!

Like I said, that's why they play the game

East starting the game hitting three threes in a row came back to haunt them. All they wanted to do was shoot threes. Didn't do enough to get Sharpe open. Stood around the perimeter most of the night. East never looked inside to Pharris. He seemed to score every time he touched it down low. Doss did a nice job on offense being patient and making East guard them.

Tony Williams seems to be a darn good coach. He should probably be getting more credit than he is.

I believe he is a great coach. Problem is most kids these days can't take his style of coaching and he doesn't give in to them. I wouldn't mind my son playing for a coach like that...

Tony Williams is an outstanding bench coach. His teams are disciplined. His preparation seems very good and he has the Doss program rolling. I don't know Williams coaching background, has he worked at the college level?

Coach Williams is still relatively new to coaching. After finishing his playing career overseas, he came back to Louisville. I think he coached AAU for a little bit, and then coached at St. Francis for one year (during which time he got his degree from U of L) before going to coach his alma mater, Doss.

He is a good coach, and continues to improve. He seems much more subdued and under control on the sidelines than previously. Of course, perhaps that is because his players are doing what he is asking them to do.
