St. X Raises the Radio Bar

Featured Replies

It looks as if X (Bisig) is doing what Trinity, Scott County, Brentwood Academy (TN), Henderson Co., Highlands and I'm sure a host of other schools already do...put games on the radio and provide an internet feed as well...it's a very positive thing, but not exactly newsworthy, and definitely not groundbreaking... any of these other institutions could issue a press release saying they will be doing it until 2015...but hats off to Bisig for getting all the free PR for this...

Do these teams do radio B-ball & baseball as well? I don't think so!

Does anybody know if Bisig Communications has the "rights" to the video feed of the T/X game at PJCS? You know... the jumbo screen video.

"Bisig Impact Group" does not have rights to video feed at PJCS.

Clear Channel owns the stations licensed to Somerset and Burnside. Two 50,000 watt FM's (97.1 and 93.9) and a Class A FM (102.3) as well as two AM stations. They cover all of the Somerset High School, Pulaski County High Schol and Pulaski Southwestern High School sports.

So, it is not new or unprecedented for Clear Channel to broadcast high school sports.

Thanks Mr. Network,

Clear Channel Somerset has for the past ten years or longer (pre-CC) been doing all three local high schools in football. Basketball they cover all three schools both boys and girls, Baseball & Softball as well. They also have covered Cross Country and on Saturdays for the past two years have done a Cal Ripken Baseball game of the week. Also last year, the AM station WSFC 1240 started a local call in sports talk program to run every Thursday afternoon from 4-6pm during HS Football and Basketball seasons. We would love to start streaming, but right now budgets won't allow it. Unless somebody wants to step up and sponsor the On-Line stuff.;)

Here's a thought.... maybe this was an evil "PR ploy" to get St. X some pub

We definitely need the "PR", since we are in the process of trying to raise $28,000,000 for Project X, and never seem to get any mention for our athletic teams in the newspapers. ;)

P.S.: That was a nice article that Jody had in the Courier-Journal this morning.

I agree Ox. It seems that the general public has no issue with the St. X football team having a theme this year. Observation point => the CJ puting this article at the top of the sports page.....I read that they have adopted the "Last Game" as a motivational point. I don't see any problems with it. I think it would work well for any team. I also wonder how many of the rock club will complain to the CJ (Jody) that they are offended that the St. X team has taken this as their theme. It sure was a hot topic on this site just a few weeks a go...... Looking forward to Saturday in BG.... GO TIGERS..;) !

^ We've moved beyond last year, something X just can't shake.

We don't want to. We have the same mission we have every year, to beat the wee-weeds, not only in the September Xtravaganza, but also in the final game. We know the pebbles are good, and unless something miraculous happens (such as Dixie Heights at the landfill in 2005), that is the team we need to defeat. We are ready, willing , and able ride the fields of Kentucky of the infestious weeds which try to inundate their beautiful Bluegrass!

Sorry Ox, but I guess the Dixie in 2005 comment was wishful thinking. The Rocks fell to DH in 04'. I'm sure you remember 04', it was the year that the Tigers managed their lone championship of the decade. You also might want to rephrase the last portion of your post. While the Tigers might be ready and willing, lately they have been unable more often than not.

Let me count some Routs of recent history....

1995 40 - 0

2004 36 - 18

2005 48 - 16

These are not the only wins, but the only Routs....

I'll admit that we didn't get the job done last Dec., but you've sure got a lot of EGG on your face from the last two Septembers.

Lets deal with this decade (present coaching staffs). The Rocks have a winning record against the Tigers during that span. Four championships to one. 2-0 against the Tigers in championship games. If you want to talk history, try 16 state championships to 11. If you want to hang your hat on a few lopsided wins feel free, we will just laugh and continue to collect the hardware.

Have you forgotten the December before those two Septembers (I wouldn't blame you for trying to)? FYI, I'll take the same deal as last year every year.:D

One thing that I have learned on my short time here on the boards is not to bring up last year or last decade, or how many T or X has won. 2006 starts Saturday and whether every team can say "Last Game" or "Finish" or "Remember the Alamo", last year is OVER!!

Bring on the new YEAR!!!

BTW- Davy Crockett and Sam Houston were 14 point underdogs!!;)
