February 19, 201610 yr Just announced it. Man I hate it. What a warrior. I know there are lots of Steelers haters around and maybe even one or two on this site, but I doubt that there's anyone who doesn't respect and appreciate Heath and what he's done. He'll be tough to replace, if not impossible right off the bat.
February 19, 201610 yr Can't say I am disappointed. He was a very good one, though. I certainly respected his play.

Guess I don't get to yell Heath anymore (at least when Steelers aren't playing the Bengals). doc, what does your TE depth look like now?
February 19, 201610 yr Author Best news I have heard all day. Guess I don't get to yell Heath anymore (at least when Steelers aren't playing the Bengals). doc, what does your TE depth look like now? Well, unless a superstar lands at their feet, I think they'll seriously consider drafting Hunter Henry, the Mackey winner, from Arkansas. If they get a guy who drops to them they can't pass up in their opinion, they may wait til the 2nd to see if Vannett from OSU is still there. They have the outlaw Jesse James and Matt Spaeth. But only James is a threat in the pass game. Other than that, they've got to address it in FA or the draft. FWIW, James was respectable in both the run game and pass game. I guess we will see how comfortable they are with him as FA and the draft approaches
February 19, 201610 yr Author It's funny, I'm watching the replay of the playoff game. Poor Heath can't get any separation. Of course, most tightends can't. But man was he fantastic at sitting down in the soft spot and had very sure hands. I don't know the statistics but I bet you could count the fumbles from Heath in 11 years on one hand. A huge security blanket for Ben.
February 19, 201610 yr It is nice to see the Bengals are the only team with issues on paper right now.
February 19, 201610 yr Author It is nice to see the Bengals are the only team with issues on paper right now. Clears up 4 million of cap room, so that's a plus.
February 19, 201610 yr Now we know why the projections had them taking the big TE from Bama on the crawl. Tons of respect for Miller. I remember being mad that the Bengals didn't take him in that draft. He would have been perfect for us back then. Glad to see him getting out before the physical toll is too high.
February 19, 201610 yr Boy I'm surprised as it sure doesn't look like there was any drop off in performance. Has had recent injuries?
February 19, 201610 yr Author Boy I'm surprised as it sure doesn't look like there was any drop off in performance. Has had recent injuries? Probably just a smart guy who has 2 rings and is fairly healthy.
February 19, 201610 yr “I realize how extremely fortunate and grateful I am to have spent my entire career as a Pittsburgh Steeler,” Miller said. “I would like to thank the Rooney Family, Kevin Colbert, Bill Cowher, Mike Tomlin, James Daniel and the rest of the Steelers organization for giving me the opportunity to live out my childhood dream. I will always cherish and value the special bonds that I formed with my teammates. It was truly an honor for me to take the field with them. “I am also appreciative of my entire family and all of the coaches who helped me along the way. Additionally, I want to thank Steelers Nation, the best fans in the NFL! Lastly, I owe the biggest thank you to my wife, Katie, and our four children for their unwavering support.”
